I tend to agree. Not quite to that extent, but I wouldnt expect us to cover the spread. We have played two BCS conference teams and are ready for a tune up game. There is no way the players are going to be as emotionally invested in this game as the VT game. This is a get-your-starters-reps-and-sit-em game. The play calling will probably be a little bit more vanilla than we saw last week, if for no other reason than to work on the small things, the fundamentals. I'm not saying that the team or coaches are looking past MTSU; I just think they are taking a business as usual approach and using it as an opportunity to improve whatever areas need the most improving. Then again, what do I know? That could just as much mean 55-0 as much as 42-17, I suppose. Hell, 7 points may as much as anybody scores on us.
I think we'll score over 40, and I think our defense has too much pride to allow their reputation be dirtied by a SBC team.
I haven't really watched MTSU but it seems to me they know what they are doing on offense and have a system in place, unlike VT and Miss. State. It'll be good for our defense but once we have a sizeable lead I don't wanna see any starters in there. It'll be a good experience for our backups against a decent offense, which we haven't seen yet.
1) LSU doesn't have a real offensive powerhouse to challenge the defense left on the schedule. 2) MTSU excels at throwing the ball downfield quickly. They have some good athletes and a good QB. It's is likely that they won't score until the scrubs are in (and the MTSU starters are still playing) but I wouldn't be surprised to see them throw up three TD's.
I'm laying 41. Tigers third and fourth stringers are still much better than MT's first. 63 MTSU 3
