@islstl posted some info a page or so ago. what I and others are saying is what is recorded, documented. You are the one saying it is wrong, I don't have to prove what I already know and believe to be true. If you research it, you will find that it all shows her of Macedonian decent. Show me where there is proof that says differently.
I don't even know what your opinion is. That's why I was asking you to clarify. Shane said she was greek, you said that was a lie we're all taught then made overtones that she was egyptian "and even more african". I'm not sure what that means.
Cleopatra was a decendent of Ptolmy, seven or eight generations removed. At least the first six generations were of pure Greek (Macedonian) decent. They all spoke Greek. Cleopatra's great grandfather's wife has an unknown lineage, and her father's 5 wives known to be either Macedonian or Egyptian from contemporary sources. Cleopatra's father had no children born from a slave or concubine. This is known from contemporary sources. Cleopatra may have part egyptian, and her grandmother may have been some ethnicity other than Greek, but there is absolutely no evidence to suggest she had any black-African ancestry. This is one of these theories that comes from someone saying "Hey! Cleopatra's grandmother isn't identified as being Greek. She must have been black. Hey Cleopatra is black." Then someone makes a clever meme, and it is fact.
it means she was mixed probably some greek, but mostly egyptian. her mother was an Egyptian concubine. So im going by the 1 percent rule that history has made up. Egypt being in Africa, would make her African. samething i said earlier, which part dont you understand?
MM her heritage is well documented. The Egyptians documented it clearly as parantage was critical to who became pharoh. The Ptolemies bought into the Egyptian custom of Pharohs marrying sisters. However that led to problems and I believe Cleopatra's great grandmother was the last pure blood Ptolemy queen. Her granfather had to marry a cousin whose mother had been married to Mithradates. Do you want cites from contemporary Ancient Greek & Roman history and correspondence? It is available and this is a well documented area and time. Cleopatra was of European and middle eastern (Turkey) descent. There were sub sarahan africa Pharohs 1000-1500 years before Cleopatra but she had no blood from that or any Egyptian line. The Ptolemic dynasty was a conquering group of Macedonian greeks with a very thin crust of greeks at the top and the general population the traditional egyptian people.
