A little known fact from my favorite band. Rush once paid the writer of a famous Looney Tunes theme to avoid a potential lawsuit. The band sampled a portion of "Powerhouse", a popular piece of Looney Tunes stock music library. The theme in question begins at :30. The theme inspired the "Monsters" segment of Rush's epic 1978 instrumental, La Villa Strangiato. It begins at 5:49. Rush failed to give composer Raymond Scott credit for the theme. Although the statute of limitations had run out (Powerhouse was published in 1936), the band paid Scott's heirs a "penance", as they called it. Scott's family was satisfied with the payment, and did not require the band to credit him in later publishings of the song.

Like, I can hear it but it is very brief yet not at all the same. I once heard that the measuring stick is at 6 seconds. I'm not sure that what RUSH did here was 6 seconds if any? Good on them for paying and thank you for filling my head with more useless trivia.
