Zep did this. A LOT, therefore, cover band. Sure other bands will cover a song from time to time and no big deal. Aretha coverd Otis Reddings "respect" and just flat out took it from him, GnR covered Dylan, Clapton covered Marley so on and so on. The fact is almost ALL of Zepp's songs are coveres. To an alarming percentage. Deal with it Amigo.
That Zeppelin song excerpt I posted, Key to the Highway, has been done by just about every blues and blues based rocker, including Eric Clapton. Many of Clapton's songs were his versions of old blues songs. Crossroads, written by Willie Dixon in 1937 for example. I Shot the Sheriff was a reggae song by Bob Marley. And what about Stevie Ray Vaughn? Many of his songs were covers of songs by Freddie King who was the major influence on SRV's style. Without bluesmen like Robert Johnson, Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, BB King and too many more to name there would be no Led Zeppelin. And no Eric Clapton, no Beatles, no Rolling Stones, no Stevie Ray Vaughn, no Ray Charles, and no Buddy Guy.
Voodoo Chile and Little wing obviously ( I like SRV's little wing best) texas flood, cold shot, Leave my girl alone, Things that I used to do and Superstition (stevie wonder) are SRV covers, there are a couple 2 or 3 that were written by other people but not recorded. Hell if we went into that category then George Strait would be worthless because for all his No1 hits I think he wrote a grand total of none of them. I get that bands cover other peoples songs. Zeppelin made a living out of it is my point.
I take it that you don't like Led Zeppelin. You probably wouldn't like Zoso either. Zoso is a Led Zeppelin cover band. They tour nationwide and play in Baton Rouge fairly often
Some day I'll teach you to stop using imprecise language. I finally got martin to stop. Almost All? Try 20 songs out of the 84 recorded Zeppelin tunes. 24%. For comparison, The Beatles recorded 139 tunes in the studio. 35 were covers. 25%. The Stones have recorded 337 tunes, 74 were covers. 22% Elvis the Pelvis never wrote a single song but recorded 711 tunes, most of which were covers. Less than 20% were songs written for him that he recorded first. Yes, LZ covered songs. Yes, LZ took improper credit for most of them. No, LZ is not a cover band doing almost nothing but covers.
A few of the songs written by Robert Plant, Jimmy Page or John Bonham: Ramble On, Black Dog, Black Mountain Side, Communication Breakdown, Going to California, Houses of the Holy, How Many More Times, Stairway to Heaven, The Lemon Song, Livin' Lovin' Maid, The Immigrant Song, Moby Dick,
