No, you have to turn right. And you had been driving west-by-southwest. Technically yes, but legally, no. While it is true that the westernmost Aleutian Islands are west of the 180 meridian on the globe and therefore in the Eastern Hemisphere, the International Date Line is bent to include all of Alaska in the last western hemisphere time zone.

I don't know how "little known" this is, but it is a fact. Did you know that in Chicago there are these really nice high rise condo's, and if you stay in them you have a really nice view of the other high rise building that is just across the way. They are both on the lake. Well, it just so happens that you can just see right into the other building, very nice apartments. Well, did you also know that the ladies of said building are rather fond of walking around with no clothes on. They also do lots of other things sans pantalones and other garments that would normally be required in public. People watching has never been so fun
