plus he's white and this ain't no white man's game no mo. nah, cparso is correct. flynn has not been impressive at all unless we can believe this last week of practice updates from media who see him for 20 mins max. nor was he nearly as heralded as the others so basically unknown on a broader scale. he's making a little noise now but he won't start. jr is starting. its time to move on.
you're right....Flynn didn't look good at all when he got the chance last season. Maybe he has gotten better, maybe he is one of those QB's who just looks good at practice, but can't handle the pressure on the field....who knows. I can't wait until Sept. 3rd, no matter who is under center.
Or it could just be that he hasn't had enough time to prove himself in a game. Having a few snaps in mop up duty, and then being thrust into a big time bowl game when your team is down is not really a fair picture of what the guy can do. That's funny, cuz I coulda sworn we won the national championship with a white QB just year before last. Remember, that guy who led the SEC in passing efficiency and threw more TD's that season than Rohan Davey? What was his name... I want the best player to start, be it whoever Miles chooses. But I don't think it's fair to write off Flynn completely either, b/c he hasn't had a fair chance to show what he can do. He's not as flashy as the other two maybe, and might not have quite as powerful an arm, but I've heard him compared many times to Mauck, and Mauck was an incredible leader, and a proven winner. And as far as him being not as big of a deal coming out of high school, he wasn't a consensus #1 dual threat, and he wasn't Alabama's Mr. Football, but he was ranked pretty high. Don't remember exactly. Seems like Russell was like #5 and Flynn was like #14 or something like that. He was still among the top QB's coming out of high school that year.
that's all well known. i guess i needed to use a smiley. but make no mistake, jr will be the starter minus an injury.
Kind of like coming into a game against Oregon St when we're down & rallying the team, playing amazing & winning the game. Did Flynn do that? No, Russell did. He was also thrown into the exact same situation in that same bowl game that Flynn faced & look at the results.
But at that point JR had an advantage with game experience over Flynn, so I wasnt surprised with the JR doing better than Flynn. We also have to realize that last year was exactly that, last year. Not only that but we also have a different coaching staff, and that makes a difference as well. I think we just have to realize that we have 3 good QBs, and whoever wins the starting jobs has to be pretty damn good cause the competition is stiff.
