the bad thing for big ben is the money that he is gonna lose... he was a definate first rounder... after an injury like this, most people drop a round or two.. thats a big lost in contract and signing money.

He was nowhere close to a first round pick. Only tackles are picked in the first round. Centers and Guards come a dime a dozen in the NFL, or so it is perceived.

He would have gone late 2nd round, maybe middle at best. Especially after this team has struggled so much with the offensive line play. He was in a better position for the draft after last season ended.

That's a shame for both players. Ben has been a huge part of why LSU is where we are right now.

I've seen Ben predicted as a first rounder as well...The report I read said the best he could do is late first, but most likely mid second....Not sure whats goign to happen to his stock now, though...

I've heard several quotes from D-lineman and Linebackers that said that Ben was the best Center that they had ever faced...

Yeah. That's a tough, tough loss for us. :(

Our "young" offense just took a HUGE hit this week. Any thoughts as to who will replace him???

I think it was metioned in this thread, but Niswanger will move to center and Arnold will start at guard.

We had been lucky so far this year avoiding the injury bug, but I guess it always seems to come around eventually. We always seem to lose starters in these crappy games. It reminds me of when Toelfield broke his arm during the ULL game a few years ago. Then two years ago, we lost Mauck at the end of the UF blowout. Then last year Shyrone got hurt at the end of the Moo U game. So I guess every year you can pretty much count on losing a valuable palyer to injury during a crappy game, it is just a matter of who. Just hope somebody can fill in and maybe excel.

To answer TigerEducated's question about my knee: I suffer from severe arthritis in my left knee, and it pops and crunches every time I move it. Right now, while I've been pregnant, it's caused me a little less trouble, thank goodness.

Ultimately, I need a knee replacement--badly. But I'm waiting it out because they only last 10-12 years, and I'd have many of them in my future at that rate (provided I'm lucky to live long enough). Hopefully, technology will increase the life span of replacements at some point.

I truly hate to see a guys career threatened this way. I hope it heals fully so he can play on Sundays. I would ask, not in any way trying to be second guess coaches, why was he even in the game on the last play? I ask the same questions lots of games about the Auburn coaches. Why take chances when the game in no longer in doubt?
