1. I was impressed with Auburn, but they had to have a man on a podium with a mike in front of their student section to coordinate cheers. If they ever do that here I'll protest. That's what makes the experience great, the learning of the dances and cheers.
  2. Believe it........I got a few messages from him while he had, let's say, some down time. :hihi:
  3. Here till the AM. Just finished up. My wife is staying one more day for work. She is going to Emeril's for a farewell dinner. Had a lot of fun, saw and did a lot. I was amazed I saw so few cops, felt like I was at Disney. Did wander to some areas that looked like early 60, such a contrast to the new buildings.
  4. The LSU student section had its own sound system in the 70's. They were 4 small but powerful horn speakers mounted on tall poles right in front on the section. Nobody else in the stadium could hear them. The head cheerleader always has a mike. When we chanted TIGERBAIT, everyone was together and the whole stadium followed.

When did they get rid of those? Maybe that's why the student section isn't as loud and coordinated as they once were. We can never hear any cheers from the students except the chants that accompany Tiger Band tunes. Students used to do "Fight" and "Hot Boudin" dozens of times in a game and everybody in the stadium could hear it.
  5. They are too busy talking on their celly and waving to someone way at the top of the stadium. "Do you see me?" "Do you see me?"
  6. LSU - I don't see how anyone can make an argument that we are not at the top of this list

Auburn - 1996. Close game and always a good rivalry

Arkansas (LittleRock) - 2006. Big close game and pretty loud.

Tenn - 2001. Not nearly as loud as I expected.

Georgia - 2004. Game wasn't that close but still fairly loud

Bama - 1997. 27-0 LSU win so not that loud.

A&M - 1994. Gameday atmosphere absolutly terrible. Went back last year for a TX Tech game and it was a little better.

Virgina Tech - 2002. Great trip but non-SEC schools just don't get it.

MSU - 1997. Nothing stands out in my memory about this game except Starkville really sucked.

Arizona - 2003. Best road trip I've ever been. Fans and weather were great. Just not too loud.

    Vandy - 2005. Come one...It's Vandy

SMU - 2005. I went on a non-LSU weekend because SMU is about 3 miles from my house. You could study in their stadium.

    Bowls and Championships
    2001 SEC Championship Vs Tenn
    2001 Sugar Bowl Vs Illinois
    1996 Peach Bowl Vs Clemson
    2003 SEC Championship Vs Georgia
  7. Celly? What is this, Britain?

Besides, I know that in my last two years things have gotten better. It's hard to get everyone to remember to say Tiger Bait, but if it worked and there wasn't some sort of organization, wouldn't it be all that more impressive?
  8. Bloody hell.
  9. One of the loudest games I ever went to was LSU v Auburn in either 97 or 99. Auburn was driving late in the 4th and we came up with an INT in the NEZ. My father-in-law was covering his ears and yelling at the same time. That is, perhaps, the loudest I have ever heard Tiger Stadium. The younger guys only have history this century, and I can only go back to the early 90's. So I leave it up to the old timers to come up with earlier loud games.

I think that the addition of the Upper East has modified the acoustics, and the sound tends to "roll" through the stadium and echos more now, than ever before. I'm not convinced that its as loud today as it was in that Auburn game I mentioned above. I have heard people tell me that a recent Auburn game was the loudest, but it didn't make my ears ring for days after. (BTW, after the Saints playoff game last year, my ears rang until the next day.)
