I will say that smokers seem to have the upper hand outside of bricks and mortar. Seems they like to keep their car window open and blow the smoke out rather than keep their windows up. I can smell it wafting in through my car vents. Lots of beaches have made it illegal but enforcement is difficult and rare. It's always nice to find dirty ole butts :hihi: buried in the sand.

I've always been curious about why a smoker would toss their butts on the ground and NOT put it out. The thing sits their curling smoke up while they walk off. Trashcans aren't that difficult to locate.

Still, like you said, as soon as the smoke is contained within a building, easy enough not to enter.

    you must be part beagle.

I have never been able to smell that while in traffic.
Maybe sometimes if my window is down at a red light, and the guy next to me is smoking with his window down.
But never just coming in throught the vents.

I didn't say that. I said smokers have the upper hand. Tough to avoid being in my car at some point, walking down the street, being at the beach. Maybe we could add cigarettes to the list of supplies we send to SK and Japan. :yelwink2:

 I suppose if I'm going to be a dog, beagle isn't a bad one to be.

ahh, but to semi quote rick vaughn, we cant enjoy cigs in our "favorite bars and restaurant type places." so we really dont have the upper hand, and if you smoke left handed cigs, then you are really screwed.

tossing them out car windows is what gets me. that sort of thing is what causes wildfires around here. one cig can burn down half the county!

Yes I have been in a bar and yes I understand more people in it smoke than do not. That was not the point of my post.

I wasn't arguing in favor, I was playing devil's advocate, if you missed the last part of my post I said I was torn between the two. I in fact do make a choice when I go out to drink or go to the casino. I make the choice to go where smoking is not allowed or the least amount of smoking is allowed. I have no problem with the others. Thanks for reading the whole post there.

By the way if everyone is on even ground, it doesn't limit the choices of establishments to the customer. Unless I'm to understand you are saying that by taking away smoking it limits their choices of things to do at the establishment and thereby limits the free market which I would disagree with on the surface. Casinos are not in business to sell cigarettes and frequently give them away. Bars are not in business to sell cigarettes, they are in business to sell alcohol. There is not enough information/data to draw a conclusion either way so at face value I would have to side with the fact that neither is in the business of selling cigarettes, it is only something complimentary at this point.

Please understand I'm not taking a stance with either side, I just think your argument that it hinders the free market seems flawed to me. There are too many questions on the surface and not enough data to make that bold claim.

I do understand that it takes a freedom of choice away to both owners and customers. That I can agree with you that I don't always like. I think if a study was done and it proved what you believe to be true then that would push me over the edge but at this point, I would take a wait and see approach.
