Re: LSU #2 in Coaches' Poll The first Harris Poll is due out today too. Usually the Harris voters mirror the AP voters though. When released, it should be available here. Some of you can check this for us during the afternoon.
Re: LSU #2 in Coaches' Poll, #3 in AP Incredible. As usual the media has no clue. Does it occur to them that Georgia won the 2nd half 30-9 and Bama has yet to show they can even beat Auburn or Miss. State? I think we've gotten 2 NCs since they last beat one of them. :dis:
Re: LSU #2 in Coaches' Poll I wouldnt call them a media darling. I watched the game this morning on DVR and they blew GA away about as bad as anyone can stomp another team and did it on the road. More people were probably watching it then our game. If you look at our score and didnt see the game you would think it was closer then it really was. We'll shut the gumps up in a few weeks. Give them their moment, they havent had any in a long time. They deserve the credit right now and it isnt because they are a media darling.
Re: LSU #2 in Coaches' Poll I expected the Gumps to jump all the way to #2 in the AP. Frankly, I could care less about that poll, which is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
Re: LSU #2 in Coaches' Poll As I predicted, the media is slurping the Crimson Kool-Aid. I can't wait to see the Tigers beat a top two team.
Re: LSU #2 in Coaches' Poll, #3 in AP I'll be happy to agree that the polls don't really matter at this stage of the season. I'll also agree that it doesn't matter we are 2nd or Bama is 2nd. All that said, however... leave it to the writers to have a little fun with their popularity contest. 3 of the top 5 teams lost in an upset weekend. LSU and OU took care of business. I assumed that OU would move to 1, but I assumed that we should have moved up to #2. Alabama was very impressive in it's win over uga, especially in the first half and they finished them off on the road. Nothing but props. No doubt. When LSU beat Auburn, we didn't jump 6 spots in the polls. Of course I realize that not as many teams lost, but I am disappointed that LSU, as defending national champs, have done nothing but take care of business this year and we get leap-frogged by a team that has done the same but started quite a bit back of us in the polls. The AP is nothing but a popularity contest. At the risk of sound like I am whining, I've always gotten the feeling that the AP put us high when they felt like there was no choice but to do so. I haven't really sensed enthusiasm from them about LSU. But, like I said, whatever, none of it really matters right now. agreed. What a bunch of crap. USC took it in the shorts up in Oregon on Thursday. FU lost to an SEC team by 1 point in a very tight game. But the writers especially love the Condoms. :crystal: :crystal:
Re: LSU #2 in Coaches' Poll, #3 in AP LSU is No. 2 in the initial Harris Poll: http://www.harrisinteractive.com/news/newsletters/bcsnews/BCS_Sept_28_2008.pdf 1 Oklahoma (102) 4-0 2,835 2 LSU (3) 4-0 2,637 3 Alabama (7) 5-0 2,601 4 Missouri (1) 4-0 2,524 5 Texas (1) 4-0 2,455 6 Penn State 5-0 2,102 7 USC 2-1 1,997 8 Texas Tech 4-0 1,933 9 BYU 4-0 1,904 10 Georgia 4-1 1,831 11 Florida 3-1 1,744
Re: LSU #2 in Coaches' Poll, #3 in AP It's total BS that USC is ranked ahead of Texas Tech and BYU in this poll.
Re: LSU #2 in Coaches' Poll I don't see Mizz pounding them AT Nebraska.... the huskers have this guy coaching them that from what i hear knows a thing or two about defense!:thumb:
