IS LSU'S SECOND STRING GOOD ENOUGH TO FIELD A TOP 25 TEAM? I'M THINKING TOP 15-20 BUT THAT'S JUST ME:thumb:

No, but close probably. We are too thin at Oline and LB.

Not in the SEC, maybe if we were in the ACC or Big 10.

Good question, and I'm going to reiterate that it would be very difficult in the SEC. In the Big 12 or PAC 10, I think we could be around 20 or so. In the SEC i don't think we would have strong enough lines, but more-so it would be a lack of depth with our 3rd string.

I think it says a lot about our current depth that you can post a thread like this and not get laughed at - generates more of a "Hmmmm....interesting" reaction.

Agree that O-line is biggest question, think we might be deeper at LB than we think - we just don't get to see the backups very often so it's hard to judge. But I'm no expert on the last two recruiting years.

How quickly some forget all the chatter of just a few short years ago how Southern Cal's second team would be ranked in the top 25, how they had the greatest team of all-time, how they could beat some pro teams...

    then they lost to Texas.

I always placed the "dillusion" on the smog, movie star syndrome, and media hype...

    apparently I was wrong...

Of course they are. Look at the teams at the bottom of the top 25. It's kind of an arbitrary line at some positions though, since rotating players kind of makes the 1st/2nd string discussion a bit less relevant than back in the day.

    Possibly

Wouldn't have the depth to hang around all season. MAYBE finishing in the 20s
