JayB wouldn't intentionally stir up controversy, however, I too think he's wrong.

As for the AU game, not sure how much that really shows us. Yes, their defense is great, but their offense sucks mightily. It's not right to sit here and say the teams Bama has beaten (Clempsun and UGA) are overrated, yet claim AU is a win that shows we are top 5.

Now, to say LSU isn't top 25 is insane. Bottom line, like many have said, it'll sort itself out...and it begins Saturday.

That said, LSU should be #1 until somebody takes it from them, and right now, they're undefeated, soooo.............

Truth is we have played some bad football and some good football. We have looked like the number fifteen team at times, but so has every team. In order for us to move down someone would have to go ahead of us, and I am not sure who that would be. The rankings are subjective and you could make a case for a number of spots to place LSU but I feel pretty certain it should be in the top 10 somewhere.

We scored 23 points and racked up 310 yards against a top 5 defense in the nation in just one half of play when it mattered.

Our defense is solid and our special teams have been pretty special for the most part.

You could argue LSU is the best team in the nation.

To argue LSU is not even a top 15 team. Uh, no.

I've never been one to subscribe to the notion that the defending national champs should remain number one till they lose. Each season is different, last year is last year. We lost key players from that NC team, so the rankings must be adjusted to reflect what teams are working with in the given season.

You hit the nail on the head. Controversy is what I aim for. Auburn hasn't impressed me this season, but winning on the road at Jordan Hare with a redshirt freshman is impressive. But that's because Lee is a gamer. Seriously though, I do not consider LSU a top five team. I'm sorry. Our lines (offensive and defensive) are spectacular but until this team puts a decent team away like OU or Mizzou or Alabama (surprised so many here aren't giving Saban's boys credit,) I simply don't see them being a top 5 at THIS point in the season. I never said they weren't top ten caliber, just that it was hard for me to see it SO FAR this season. LSU could still end up with 3 losses in the SEC. I hope that doesn't happen, but I'm realistic. Don't really care what other people think about that. I remember the 90s (when I started following college football closely when I was about 11) and I know what a bad LSU team looks like--this ain't one of 'em. Still have yet to show me why they're in the top five however.

I have to give TONS of props to the ones who gave me red. It finally took someone with enough balls to give the cancer kid some negative feedback--was kinda getting tired of all the green all the time. I'm not fragile, I won't break. You can knock me around a bit. Life is much, much more than college football.

Actually, top 15 may be too far down. But really the point I was trying to make was that LSU is clearly not the best team in the country like so many on this forum seem to be thinking. And I say that because I watch a LOT of college football unlike some who only pay attention to LSU and a few other teams. Maybe it's because LSU isn't fun to watch to me--it's stressful because it's a passion. I can't just relax and watch an LSU game like I can any other game. I know it ain't about the fans, it's what the players go through and all of that, but I know I'm not the only one who goes into cardiac arrest watching LSU--even in a going away victory.

Don't doubt the hat is what I've learned. I believe the NC should stay #1 until someone takes it from them, any other ratings to start the season are speculative. I'd say LSU is a legit top 10 team and I don't see any problem with us in the top 5. We have chinks in the armor, no doubt, but most teams do. Until we lose, I can't think of any reason to move us down.

That said, I don't mind where we've been placed in the AP poll. We're #4, the three teams ahead of us have looked strong and are at least arguably as good or better than we are. The coaches poll is a joke and has been regardless of where they rank LSU. The season is long and we're facing one of our biggest tests of the season this weekend. I don't give a damn where they rank us, beat Florida.

Who, really, have OU or Mizzou beaten this year? I'm really curious as to how OU will look against Texas this weekend, and how we'll look against UF, for that matter.

Our schedule, thus far, has been VERY mediocre, so I get your point, but I definitely feel we're in the top ten, and that on any given Saturday, we could and WOULD beat anyone in the top ten.

Justin, I agree with a lot of what you have written.

Playing with a RSF QB whose first big test outside Tiger Stadium is the Gators, in the Swamp, in front of a national TV audience concerns me. I hope Scott & the OL can get us out to an early lead.

I expect to see Tebow and the Gators O bring their A game. If we don't get pressure on Tebow we could be in for a long night.

I think the contest goes right to the wire and isn't decided until the final five minutes.

so the first win on the road at the plains in a decade was a cake-walk.

    okie dokie.

wasnt a test, trailing 2 different times, against one of the countrys top defenses.

in an insanely hostile environment after losing the starting qb.

    alrighty then.

cant wait for that first test on the road.

some talk about the media selling us short. quite a few here are far too critical of their own team to notice what we've done.

its fine to be objective but its a fine line being overly critical and not being able to appreciate what les and his teams continue to accomplish.

quit selling your own damn team short.
