it just sucks b/c petey seems to have an iron-clad grip on recruiting in that area right now. so until that changes for whatever reason, SC will practically have a free ride to God knows how many undefeated seasons.
truth of the matter is UT, UF and Bama have been in down years recently. thats the difference. even when theyre down its better than any other conference.
We play Arizona St Why would UT be a should beat and UF be a push because of new coaches. Seems like UT should win if the new coaches are a factor IMO. However, I think both games will be very close but believe that UF's defense should be weak and that will give us the edge.
The more I think about what this team can acheive, the more optimistic I get. IF this team performs like it SHOULD, we will be in store for one of the most memorable seasons EVER. On paper we have the possibility to have one very exciting football team. It's just up to CLM and his staff, and I have no reason to believe that they won't give it their all. I still think we'll lose a tough game or two...but, I'm knocking on wood.
there will be some close games for this LSU team but I think they can make it through the season with only 1 L... who is going to beat LSU ????? maybe no one.... LSU!
On paper, this LSU team should dominate with such a friendly schedule. Perfection is within reach for LSU in 2005. However, I can't bring myself to feel comfortable about JaMarcus Russell at the wheel. I think he will win the job and have a wonderful season, but there will be one or two games that come down to his decision making and his ability to use his head. The "perfect season" doesn't have brain farts and slip ups - Russell is not beyond these things... yet. I feel like JR needs more time to develop and to accept the fact that his athletic abilities will not stand alone down the stretch - he needs to get it together between the ears. There is no seasoned veteran on the bench this year. Another Florida episode will have to be overcome by playing through it. Does JR have it in him? I can't remember a team whose success hinged so much on the play of one single guy. Russell is it - when he gets up in the morning he has this season on his shoulders. I'm excited...
Must I remind everyone of the Lady Tigers this year along with the gymnastics team... They both had great things happen, but it wasn't their year.... Sadly, when things seem most obvious, they don't happen ('cept USC... :cuss: )
I COMPLETELY agree...why not let them play a best out of five with random high school teams and just give them the title. This has been amazing for years. I can only dream and imagine what the Tigers could do on the field against them...or hell... what many other SEC teams could do. SAD
Just remember the odd year factor.. 2001 SEC Champs... 2003 SEC Champs... 2005 ? In those odd years we have: at bama.. we always seem to play them better outside of tiger stadium... auburn and an east power at home (tennessee)... the only downfall in these seasons is that we have Florida at home, which like bama, isnt always a good thing.. i have to go with the day game theory.. if we are ranked high, we get florida during the day, when lsu always seems to play more lackluster.. i dont like day games because they just dont look LSU football.. the colors are drowned out, the shadows are too dark.. just doesnt look that good.
