I hate helmets with #'s on them! I love LSU helmits just the way they are! The only thing I would say that I think it would be neat to break away once a year from tradition and have white helmits with purple jerseys. The white helmits are the only thing I liked about the Dinardo era besides the beginning of it wasn't too bad.
Helmet logo is great - but the OTHER one.... The best nickname I have heard for the "new" logo is "Toonces" - after the driving cat from Saturday Night Live. I like the eye of the tiger from the field, and the current logo on the helmet - but Toonces is horrible and I will not buy any LSU logo stuff with Toonces on it. :lsug:
I work for a company whose owner used to also own part interest in the Cincy Reds and Bengals. His dad bought the patent for "One-Hour Martinizing" - and marketed it...and that's how the family's fortune was made... ...In the early 80's (I started in '79) he found out that I was an LSU man, and he told me the story... ...that LSU had originally commissioned the design for the Bengals striped helmets & uni's... ...but were not impressed with how they looked in purple & gold... ...and sold the design rights to the Bengals... ...who started using them in the late '70's and still use them to this day... So, actually, the Bengals 'stole' the uni's that WE rejected... ...and now you know... ...the rest of the story... GOOD DAY!
I've heard rumors that there was talk of changing to purple helmets with the "eye of the tiger" on them. Just rumors, though.
Hopefully just a rumor! I also liked the white helmets a lot. I'm one of those in the minority that wants to see us change up the unis a couple of times a year. I love the white but I'd like more variety. Toonces has got to go though :dis: My girlfriend bought me some 'new logo' coasters for my desk. I playfully questioned her about it because she knows I hate that thing. Anyway, I hope the logo is gone soon.
Wait, wait, wait... I have a shirt written in purple and gold that says "FIGHTING TIGERS" and that picture of the whole tiger on it. You mean... I'VE BEEN LIVING A LIE?
