tied 1-1. smoke said in pregame olvey and quite a few others are sick and olvey likely wont be able to pitch. quinn has a couple doubles with one missing a homer by inches. dirks has given up a dinger and we were down 1-0. games start early there so its bottom 3.
Thanks, tirk. I totally forgot about the different time and was just sitting down to my computer for the game and realized my error.
freaking dirks couldnt throw a strike. up to 70 pitches and walked 3 straight, one was a run. cain comes in and walks one as well. LSU losing 3-1 now. cain in but shaefer warming. if olvey is out our pen will be needed but its being blown up tonight. not good timing for sec opener.
If we're to have a ledgit shot at finishing better than the 15-15 conference record some prognosticators are saying we will, we have to win against teams like Kentucky in order from keeping us from becoming...well...from becoming nothing more than a team like Kentucky!
so the year we won the CWS and got swept with ogea, byrd and sirtoka all pitching against UK i guess we sucked. we need to win 2 of 3 most every weekend to win the west. it won't be tonight. 7-1 UK.
Well, we OBVIOUSLY didn't suck back then, but it's easy to point out a series from seasons eons ago and make a statement like that. My comment was mainly to point out that over the years, Kentucky has had just marginal success--nothing great. Sure, they'll pull out a sweep against someone that they shouldn't, but they're not going to be knocking on the Top 10 door year-in and year-out.
no, actually it illustrates a point and ruins any argument you try to make. if we can lose 3 games to a team who sucked then with 3 major league starters on the mound and still win the CWS that year, then obviously it doesnt necessarily mean one thing. 7-1 cats. we had just as many people then say we sucked as we do now. the bandwagon empties and fills quite quickly with people who act like they're fans.
