This is exactly why I posted this thread. Vandy's Coach Corbin did a great job in describing what a first year coach goes through. He used his own 1st year experience at Vandy as an example. I'm sure Corbin was speaking to exactly what have been the challenges for the new LSU coaching staff this year. You can't throw out the guys that are not with the program, you just have to keep at it with consistency and hope they fall in line. Next year will be a lot better.
A lot will depend on Mainieri's recruiting ability, but I have confidence he will get the players he needs. Particularly a catcher, as well as 2nd and 3rd basemen. He also needs some power hitters. I have really been pleased with the quality of coaching.
I am expecting a lot of turnaround before next season. PM will be meeting with the players this week to discuss their role with the team for next year. I expect many new faces in the lineup next year. I suspect Wise will be gone because of his lack of playing time this year. Rememeber, this is the last year where players can transfer without sitting out the season. Many predict this to be the year with tons of turnaround around the league. PM will have extra time now to visit with recruits now that we wont be going to the SEC tourny. I like the new rule because it seems that it will allow programs to have a stronger foundation to build on.
