Let's hope Turtle has a contingency plan to bring in some quality players because he and the rest of the coaches had to know these kids were not likely to be stepping onto campus.

There is a good chance that 6 out of 12 players that signed could go in the first five rounds.

Other than the three mentioned and Hellickson, no one else has been picked as of the mid-7th round.

This is the EXACT reason LSU shouldn't waste their time with such highly-touted guys. We ALWAYS seem to go after these types of players, and we NEVER get them. I think they should concentrate a little more on getting players like Jackson or Hollander. It always seems that we have a really tough time with pitchers, especially. I think Smoke and Turtle should work a little harder at finding "unpolished diamonds," so to speak, that could develop into all-conference type players.

Developing pitchers is the problem, we don't seem to help pitchers improve.

I would be willing to bet that every kid in the draft was signed by somebody, it's not like LSU is the only school that signs these kids. They do know in advance that they will lose some of the and they also know that a few of them will drop down in the draft and end up at LSU, it's just that they do not know which ones that will be. So after the draft they will then concentrate on replacing the guys they will lose with other high schoolers and juco's.

Jon Zerangue was supposed to be a first round pick. He fell to the fourth round. We kept recruiting him and he ended up playing pretty good for us. Robert Lane was supposed to be a first round pick and didn't get drafted. LSU should recruit guys intrested in LSU who can play the game. We do need a better plan for losses to the draft though.
