I played with Schimpf in HS and he can flat out hit the cover off the ball. He hits the ball to all fields, is very patient at the plate, and rarely K's. Plus when he gets his pitch, watch out in the bleachers, cause he can hit some bombs.
Damn, I can't believe I missed that. And I am a major grammer nerd. Let's rephrase: I can TALK to my son about the game, and I can TAKE him to a game.:hihi:
<--- Is also anxiously awaiting that first pitch. Can't wait to see Maneri's team and their style of play.
Sounds sorta like an Augie Garrido team. Early on at UT, Augie had some problems with a few players, good players who transferred and went on to start at other Big 12 "baseball schools", who didn't "fit" his small ball approach. Given a few years recruiting speed, he won and he keeps winning. That said, if our pitchers progress, this might be fun to watch. The baseball fundamentalists should be thrilled.
There are only 11 days left till the season starts. So are there any new articles, about how the players are looking during practice??
I'd be thrilled with any type of a disciplined program at this point. You know, I once told my dad that "John Wooden would never have success in today's game of CBB given his policy on facial hair and the like. Noone would play for him". Mainieri is exactly that type of guy.
here is a new article from The Advertiser http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/5407906.html?index=1&c=y
