Come on. You are better than this. Brady has not even been mentioned in this thread. You say you support the team, but not the coach. Lets see it. Why not be optimistic about the team's chances of making the tourney? The Brady stuff will work itself out on its own.
I believe that the Tigers really need to get to 18 wins to feel comfortable about a tourney bid. This would be 18 going into the SEC tourney. Now, lets say they get 17 wins, it would come down to who they beat in those games. A win against MSU on the road would be huge but it is highly unlikely. If they do only get 17 they will need two SEC tourney wins. But, with a 10-6 record in conference they should get a good draw for the SEC tourney. But, at that point, if they only have 17 wins, they'd almost rather having to play in the first round of the SEC b/c it would mean a game against a lesser opponent which should result in that important 18th win.
I have an INsider account with ESPN. I was just looking at the Bracketology section and he has ya'll as the last team in right now. He said the last team out is UAB. Here are the teams you should keep an eye-out for during the final weeks of the season. These are the 8 teams he is predicting to be fighting for the last 4 at-large spots. Last Four In: Miami (FL) Minnesota Kent St. LSU Last Four Out: UAB Iowa Indiana Arizona St. Hope that helps some of you guys trying to follow ya'lls chances of getting in.
10-6 will get us in, no matter what we do in the SEC tourney. I've been searching and can't find any SEC team ever left out of the NCAA tourney with at least 10 wins. Teams with winning records from major conferences get a bid. Even though the SEC is down this year, I just can't see them leaving out a 10-6 team. If we end up 9-7, I think we'll need a SEC tourney win or 2. We might also need very few conference tourney upsets, as those upsets take away at-large berths.
the question is: in your research, did you come across an sec team with 10-6 conference record and only 17 wins total.
What difference does it make, really, of LSU makes the tourny and is one and done? Will anyone have any sense that the basketball program is heading in the right direction? It would take a sweet 16 win to make me feel any real excitement about LSU basketball. Sorry state of affairs, as I was a big supporter til about 3 years ago.
Well, you can't win the NC without making the NCAA tourney, so that is step #1. And you are assuming they will go one and done, which none of really know with any certainty. If you truly know that LSU will go one and done, then you shouldn't be afraid to be the farm on the team that plays LSU, right?
I finally find a decent site with all the info I was looking for. I couldn't find any team with a 10-6 record with less than 20 wins, but there were 2 teams that got in with 17 or less total wins ... 2003, Bama 7-9, 17-12 and in 2001, UGA 9-7, 16-15. When you look at this, keep in mind the SEC went to a 16 game schedule in 1992. Prior to that, it was 18 games. I did see two teams with 10-8 records that did not get in. Anyway, interesting info if you like this sort of stuff ... http://www.sportsstats.com/bball/otherconfs/SEC/standings/index.html
Well I believe 2 things have to happen. We get to 18 wins or we could have 17 but a win against Miss St and Alabama would have to be a must. THe easiset route is to get the 18th win...whether in the remainder of the season or with a win or 2 in the SEC Tourney
