whether or not anyone thinks he's a good fit. he would come here. he has so many recruiting ties here as well as family ties (no, not the keatons :hihi he once called LSU his dream job. he only makes 850k at USC. LSU would be able to grab him i think with 1.5 mill (if skip/BOS/president/future AD would open up the wallet like that). but all of that is my opinion. there are worse coaches that could come here than him. but the simple facts are minus his NBA stints, this guy is a great college coach and would recruit well here. you could say the same and make an argument for butch, but i wouldn't diminish what tim floyd brings to the table.
I agree with your post but as far as calling LSU his "Dream job", that was before he called USC his "Last job." Never know though, people change their minds. I think Vball's worried. Here kitty kitty.
that was actually when brady was hired so it was waaaayyy before the usc job. i'm just saying he's a realistic choice for the job and probably worth an interview. i kinda wished we'd wait until the season is over but i guess not having a coach gives us a head start on a search.
Are some of y'all actually sports fans? Yeah, he probably won't leave USC, but it's at least worth a shot. Although it is true that Tim Floyd has never coached his teams to the Final Four, what has he had to work with??? He's been at Idaho (Do I have to explain?), UNO (even Tulane has a more exciting atmosphere), Iowa St. (Okay, we're reaching at least a somewhat-decent level) & USC (now here's a team he might be able to do something with). Even USC sucked when he got there though. There is one thing he's had in common at every place he's been - they've consistently won. Yes, he sucked in the pros and had ZERO talent to work with. Who cares? Pete C. also didn't do anything in the pros, but his college football teams seemed to turn out okay. Anyway, here's a quick cut and paste of what he's done: Tim Floyd's first assignment as a head coach came at the University of Idaho, succeeding the disappointing Bill Trumbo, who finished last in the Big Sky conference in each of his three seasons. Floyd coached the Vandals for two years. In his first season, the Vandals posted their first winning record since Don Monson left for Oregon after the 20-9 1983 season. He then was the head coach at New Orleans for six years (1989-94), posting a 127-58 (.686) mark. During his tenure, UNO advanced to post-season play five times, including NCAA tourney appearances in 1991 and 1993, and won four regular season conference titles. His teams averaged 21 wins a season. He was one of just four Division I coaches to have won four conference championships in their first five years at a school. He was twice named his conference's Coach of the Year (American South in 1989 and Sun Belt in 1993). Floyd then went to Iowa State for four years (1995-98), going 81-47 (.633). He was the only Cyclone coach to ever post three consecutive 20-win seasons and lead the team to three straight NCAA Tournament first round victories. Iowa State rose to No. 4 in the rankings in 1997 and three of his teams finished in the Top 20. Iowa State won a then-school record 23 games in his 1995 debut season, getting into the NCAA tourney's second round and spending 11 consecutive weeks in the AP Top 25. His 1996 squad bettered that as it won 24 games and captured the school's first-ever Big Eight Tournament championship. That season, he was the Big Eight Coach of the Year and the runner-up for AP National Coach of the Year. His 1997 team went 22-9 and advanced to the NCAA's Sweet Sixteen. In 2006-07 he led the Trojans to a school-record 25 wins (25-12), a third-place tie in the Pac-10 Conference and a trip to the NCAA's Sweet 16, USC's first NCAA trip since 2002. Floyd is 42-25 in his first two seasons at USC, winning more games in the first two seasons as a head coach than any previous Trojan coach in school history. Floyd led USC to NCAA wins over Arkansas and Texas, before falling in the round of 16 to North Carolina. End of Summary. I really like Butch, but what are a few of y'all smoking? Floyd has proven he can do very good things with next to nothing. I mean, taking UNO to the tourney, now that's a BIG accomplishment. He put Iowa St. on the map. And considering the talent that comes out of Baton Rouge, he could do great at LSU. There's less competition as I see it in the SEC for basketball as there is in the PAC 10. However, he's a friend of John Brady and that would scare me a little right there. I believe he's had player turnover issues, etc. as well. BUT...he still won with whatever side issues he might have had. In the end, LSU needs a consistent winner. And I'll give it to him - he is that.
You make it sound more likely that he would actually listen to the offer. I'm sure Butch could do just as well but I have a feeling that Skip won't give him the opportunity. If we don't get to keep Butch, Floyd should be numero uno on the list. Either way LSU basketball should be in great shape in the next 2-3 years.
 Percy Miller and Co. can stay the phuck out of this state as far as I'm concerned. And this is from a guy who at one time owned the entire No Limit Records catalogue.
yes, absolutely he'll listen. whether or not it turns into an interview is yet to be seen but i would think he would at least interview to squeeze some more pennies from the trojans. maybe i'm just battered from bradyball but i'd be happy with most of the names mentioned for this job: floyd, grant, drew, kennedy, etc and butch included. maybe my standards are that low.
That raises a couple of questions: 1/ Didn't we have to ask for permission to contct him 2/ Was the timing bad? Considering what we recently went through, should we have contacted him the week he was to begin the Tourn?
