He's the one driving this train.

All of the players drafted last month - he recruited/ signed.

That bad-ass 2014 recruiting class - it has his name on it.

That kick-ass team we had in 2011...... yep, Leslie Miles was the architect!

It is MY opinion, he took a good thing, and made it REALLY good!

In Fact, over 9 years, his worst season was 8-5.

AND, we now have the best OC/DC tandem in college football, imo.

@Kal-El012 , its the offseason, a time for outlandish optimism, and rooted pessimism. Take in what wheelz is saying here, and realize that we have only gotten better in the last 2 years in our coaching resume w/the additions of Cam and Grimes (and subtraction of Stud, which is a net positive). The only thing lacking really is experience. The talent level is outstanding on both sides of the ball. It'll be fun watching our offense get after it and get that experience. It's all how you look at it. If you go in expecting a lights out passing game, and a NC in BHarris' first year, then you may be in for a disappointment. If you are more realistic, and expect some growing pains, but relish in the potential, and watching the tutelage and molding by Cam, and maturation and blossoming over a window of time, then you will likely be pleased. In that second scenario, earlier success and progress will then be that much sweeter. If he ends up being the next JWinston, then it will surprise you, but don't go in expecting it. @cajdav1 and @LSUDad are right on when they say trust the coaches, they actually do know what they are doing, including your favorite, Mr. Les Miles.

Clearly, Vandy's odds should be markedly increased now that Rivers transferred there:rolleyes:

Yea, I think its more like riding the short bus.

Miles is the figure head, you're right. But, you think it's just Miles on the recruiting trail? Are we to take credit away from the position coaches and others on the recruiting trail? Do you think if those guys were on another staff they wouldn't take those recruits with them? Maybe not to a podunk college, but another SEC team?

2011 was a kick ass team, but what will they be more known for in history by people outside of Louisiana? The ridiculous 21-0 loss to Alabama in which Miles threw the towel in.

Miles has put the screws to more than one pocket passer, and more than one quality receiver. Can you imagine the frustration of Rueben Randall while he was here? OBJ and Jarvis Landry must have been pretty frustrated too before Mettenberger started getting quality snaps.

Is it possible that LSU, because of Miles, could become known as the place where pocket passers and field stretching wide receivers come to ruin their draft stock? I sure hope not.

And how about the handling of guys in trouble with the law? The guy in front of you on the depth chart gets suspended indefintely due to some sort of crime. You move up due to your hard work and staying out of trouble. The guy who was suspended comes back, and in three games regains his position, and on his first play back, is able to score an easy touchdown. What does that say to the guy, who does what he is supposed to?

A few points to make here, Scotter ...

#1 If you get to blame Miles for a player's poor performance, or of the field problems, I get to give Miles credit for hiring good coaches, signing good players, keeping us in the national spotlight, a contender, etc.

#2 Life isn't fair. Sometimes, life sucks. Sometimes the situation sucks. Nobody ever gave me anything. I've had to earn it. If you want something good to come from something, put something good into it. And keep grinding. Don't give up. Because when the good finally starts coming.... it's worth it.

Isn't that what growing up is about? Learning life's most valuable lessons?

    1. Check your facts before making incorrect statements. Research which SEC program has had the most receivers drafted since Les has been the head coach.

2.. Which dropback passer has Miles run off who has had success elsewhere? Give us some proof instead of unsubstantiated drivel.

    3. The head coach's maon function is to manage the entire program. You cannot rank a head coach on your pet peeves, not logically anyway. Miles has had more success than 99% of the D-1 coaches. Maube 3rd or 4 coaches have had more success than Miles, I don't think any BCS coaches have won more games then him. Only two have more national championships only one has more NC appearances.

    1. Tre’Davious White and Rashard Robinson, LSU
2013 combined stats: 71 tackles, 3 INTs, 13 passes defended
Bring it: LSU may have the best young corner combo in college football. Rising sophomores Tre’Davious White and Rashard Robinson are the next future NFL corners the Tigers will develop within the system. LSU was the SEC’s DB U during the BCS era, developing players like Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu and Morris Claiborne, and White and Robinson may be two of the best during the Les Miles era. White was an All-SEC freshman performer, while Robinson may be the best kept secret at corner.
