No worries with moving down. UCLA and Miami do not have two top 5 BCS teams on their remaining schedule like LSU does.
This week we took a BCS beating because of so many opponents losing, especially with MOO U losing OOC. The next 2 weeks we will take a hit just from our opponents, especially North Texas when they would have been ok to play in years past. The following week we win and we will jump up for being a previously unbeaten team. The last 2 weeks we will most likely take somewhat of a hit due to Ole Piss and Arkie having such crappy seasons. Beat a hopefully unbeaten UGA in the SEC CG and we move back up.
I think LSU is going to move down the computers pretty good here in the next month after playing North Texas (not as good as I thought they'd be at the beginning of the year), Appalachian State, and Ole Miss. That's a Strength of Schedule pounding. Also, UCLA is undefeated, so they don't have the same rules applying to them as LSU. If they win out, they will be ahead of LSU guaranteed. Of course winning out means they will have beaten USC, and I could live with that! Miami has some tough games left. They have Virginia Tech, and then the ACC Championship game if they win that one. I personally don't think the pieces are going to fall into place this year because the potential upsets just aren't there. I was hoping Texas Tech would make things interesting by knocking off Texas, but I believe Texas is home free.
I agree that Texas goes undefeated no matter what. Cal is our best friend right now. UCLA being undefeated will get resolved in time heh. As for Va Tech, I just don't see them going undefeated. The easy part of their schedule is behind them. Miami could be a problem, but time will tell.
If we can't make it to the Rose Bowl, we have ourselves to blame for losing in the first place. I will be happy with a BCS Bowl. I'm not surprised we moved down, but some of the teams ranked in front of us will knock each other off, and we "will" knock off two in front of us. We needed even MORE teams in front of us to lose in '03--and it was just as improbable.
..."Deserving" is more like it. USC remains undefeated, but Texas is playing a lot more soundly than USC, who in most of their games, have allowed their opposition to outscore them in the first half before turning it on in the end.
While I agree with you, they are currently No. 1 in the BCS for the wrong reason. It's not because ON THE FIELD they look better. It's because the computers are saying that Texas's schedule is that much tougher than USC's. I agree that Texas looks better than USC, but their moving up wasn't because the voters did the right thing and started changing votes to Texas, it's only because the computers believe Texas has played a much tougher schedule.
I saw it somewhere a few days ago, but Texas' SOS IS better than USC's. Texas' was somewhere around the low 40's...USC's was something in the high 40's. And ours was 29th.
