Ya'll do know what Les was telling the Refs on the sidelines? Before the kickoffs that used a holder. THe Fla. holder was offsides, the LSU player was taught the correct way. Les was pointing this out, then we get a flag for a illegal formation.........:angryfire
The difference in the two coaching styles is glaring. Wing made a rokie mistake, which cost the team points, which is a big thing. Miles did not rant and rave. He put his hand on Wing's shoulder, spoke to him casually, almost like he said, "look, great play, but you botched it up at the end. Refs made the right call, but you got to act like you have been there before." Miles seemed to offer the correction, and will probably offer the correction again at practice......... maybe Wing will have to chase down his own punts about 25 times. But what Miles also did, was to address it in a way, particularly in the media, which showed his players the refs made the right call (technically, by the rules) and that no one on the team would do something like that again to cost LSU points. He is really good at this.
After seeing Dooley last year melt down on the sideline and not want to shake les' hand after the crazy end to the lsu/ Tennessee game, some recruits may not even want to give Tennessee a chance. Same with the way the wvu and Mississippi state coach acted on the sideline this year. Both were cursing and screaming at the refs and players. Parents see this and so do the kids. That has to hurt them when all things are equal. Pelini almost had a stroke last year on the sidelines and had to apologize to the fans during a media event. After that most lsu fans said they didn't want pelini anywhere near lsu were miles to leave. Saban loses his chit all the time too. The thing about saban is that recruits know that they will have more of a shot at getting drafted if they do well playing for saban. I can't remember ever seeing miles completely lose his cool and scream f-bombs in kids faces on tv like some other coaches do. One of the greatest coach meltdowns had to be the " I'm a man" speach the okie state( I think) coach gave a couple years ago. Miles just says " have a great day".
Yes, it was Mike Gundy. I thought that was more of him sticking up for a kid as opposed to a meltdown. I was actually glad to see him yelling at the media for bashing one of his guys. Pelini did it Sat to a reporter that wrote a negative article about his QB. Again, I like it. The media has no business bashing college athletes.
This is true that his meltdown was over that, but how stupid did he sound yelling, "I'm a MAN! I'm 40!" Dude, really?
No doubt, it came across as comical. But the guy was obviously ticked about the article, and rightfully so.
I said the exact same thing. The hire really left me scratching my head, particularly because they didn't really seem to pursue any proven head coaches. I compared it to the Kiffen hire, meaning that it must have been purely on perceived potential & hype (except Kiffen actually had a little HC experience with the Raiders. . .although I'm not completely sure that counts). I also noted that he would have to dial back his sideline antics if he wanted to be successful as an HC.:rofl::rofl: Yep. Pelini just looks pissed off and is constantly b!tching people out. Muschamp jumps all around like an idiot, whether he's pissed off or celebrating. I made a comment after the Fla/Tenn game about how stupid it was for him to be jumping up and down and celebrating after Tenn missed a FG. It wasn't as if they had blocked it or anything; the kicker just pushed it. Yet there was Muschamp, flailing around, pumping his fists, and acting as if his team had just won the NC. Good god man; get a hold of yourself. What a buffoon. How can someone think clearly when they can't control themselves?
About the same as Miles when he was yelling, "I'm the coach...I call timeouts...I'm the coach." Thankfully for Gundy, it was only once.
Pelini was a quite the a$$ in his press conference that they showed part of on ESPN. Granted taking up for his players, but not tactful at all. In this day and age the media can 'kill' you. Glad they seem to love CLM and his faux pas', winks, and grass-eating glory.
Didn't Muschamp say it was his fault? Maybe he can scream at himself in a mirror and kick himself off the team. And, maybe when he made a mistake as a player they should have kicked him off of the team. And, maybe when he was in school and made a mistake on a test the principal should have thrown him out of the school. And, when he next meets Saban the DO will likely say, "You made a mistake against LSU. Depart from me. I never knew you."
