The problem with an early NCAA exit is that the SEC overall has been pretty poor in the NCAA tournament the last few years, and that national stage is how you are measured in basketball. Be honest: in football, you don't respect schools who win a lesser conference. How many of you have truly respected USC's dominance of the Pac 10 as indicative of a truly great football team? But this isn't football, where the whims of voters control the matchups and only 2-3 teams get a shot at the championship. You get your bid, and you go out on the court and prove your worth. If the SEC doesn't prove its mettle in the NCAA, LSU winning the SEC-W last year and the overall title this year just doesn't mean as much.

With 6 teams heading to the NCAA, the SEC appears to have a stronger field than thought early in the season - there are a number of young teams which have improved over the season, including LSU. I hope the SEC teams do well, and fully expect LSU to do well in the NCAA this year. No excuses, especially with the high seed we'll have.

a first round loss as a two seed would be disappointing and embarrasing. it would not however negate an sec championship. this is still a young team. an upset by a 15 seed could happen. this team has not been blowing out the mediocre sec teams, then again they havent lost to them either.
