i been saying this all along about the lack of an outside threat and been getting ripped for it over here. you guys dont like to face the facts. anyone who thought lsu would go to florida and hand them back to back losses at home was fooling themselves. i for one won a few bucks today. this team will more than likely go one and done in both tourneys. what a great coach we have and how bout a contract extension brady?
Brady quit on this team today. It's one thing to bench Davis and Thomas at the end of the game b/c of their poor play, but it's not acceptable to give up. Down 7 with a minute to go is not impossible, but Brady thought it was and elected not to foul. This is the kind of stuff he does that makes fans not want to support him.
Now, wait a minute. Think what you want about how the Tigers will do, but you say yourself you didn't expect to win (and let's keep it real. Losing to the #6-7 ranked team in the country on their homecourt, doesn't mean the sky's falling down, nor is it embarassing). Then, all of the sudden it turns to it's Brady's fault we lose? For the record, Thomas picks up the 2 quick fouls and becomes a non factor. Davis misses 6 of 12 free throws. Officiating wasn't kind. D.Mitch and Temple did not play their best. We had an off day. On the other hand, we do shut down Taureen Green and Brewer and held them to well below their averages. I'll chalk this up to a hard fought game that didn't go our way. I DO agree with you that our backcourt did not look better than Florida's today (but that's not surprising, Florida recruits better guards). We had a .73 assist to turnover ratio vs. Florida's 1.23 ratio, and that's again, b/c of the press. I also DO agree that with 1+ minutes to go, I would have fouled, considering Florida wasn't lighting it up from the free throw line.
Ever seen a team worn out at the end of the game because the bench hasn't stepped up? A team that was in foul trouble with their best inside shot blocker on the bench? A team whos other inside man was getting hacked so badly on the inside that he was forcing shots in frustration? A team who arguably lost their best player from last year leave for the NBA early? Oh yea...it's all the coaches fault.
ever see a team conditioned well enough to not be tired at the end of the game? A team that can play aggressive and stay out of foul trouble? A team with a big man that instead of forcing shots, realizes he's being doubled and finds the open man and does NOT lose his cool? A team that recruited players that wanted to play college basketball and earn a degree? Oh yea... none of that's the coaches fault.
Im tired of hearing about their lack of depth too. A) brady built this team so if his "depth" keeps transferring away, leaving early, or not being good enough... that's his fault. B) They play 8 deep, that's as deep as most teams in the country. Vogd is the best ball handler on the team, Rolle played very well today, and Lazarre is a quality sixth man.
In the last couple of games...yes they have....Brady seems to be going to them now and I'm encouraged by that fact. The big thing everyone seems to lose sight of is that Florida is the #7 team in the country and we hung with them to the end on THEIR floor. To me...this is one kick ass basketball team.
So hanging with a 7th ranked team who just lost to S. Car., and not being ranked in the top 25 is considered a "kick ass basketball team". Will you be congratulating Brady when he gets a NIT bid later this year. Brady has let LSU basketball fan accept mediocrity.
