Looking back on it, how dumb was THAT on the administration's part?
Letting the next AD at U of Florida pick your HC for you. :dis:  :dis:

One of the reasons Arnsparger left, as I recall, is that LSU was not big enough for his and Bob Brodhead's egos.

This is very true...however, we were never going to win a MNC w/ Arnsparger
as HC, anyway, as he couldn't ever win the big one (0-3 in bowl games).

I think you're spot on...well, except for the fact that a few folks in Baton Rouge will have a great deal of interest in hiring their current coach during the next 2 1/2 weeks.

Same is true for Nebraska. How does frank solich go from winning 10 games and getting canned to coaching at...Ohio?

    WTF???

This is just proof that your coach can recruit his ass off.

Of course, he wouldn't have to work nearly as hard drawing top prospects if he collected his mail in Baton Rouge instead of Iowa City...

I'm not sure how interested in Ferentz anybody's really going to be, Tejas. I think he's a fine coach, he certainly seems to be greatly respected around the country as an up-and-comer. But he has it pretty good at Iowa right now, and I think he may have his eye on Penn State once JoePa decides to finally hang it up. In addition, his name may also eventually be bandied about for an NFL gig, so he may not be a very good fit for us. Not that I wouldn't be happy or supportive if he DID come here...I just don't think it's in the cards.

The conclusion I draw from the list is that 4 of those could've stayed for much longer
had they been able to build our team and coach.
Maybe the administration, Joe Dean should've been more selective?
    I don't know.

The future will be bright though!

Not really. If Archer, Hallman and DiNardo had done what Saban did, they'd all be in the NFL by now.

    Wrong about Brodhead

He left cause he couldn't get along with Joe Dean's meddling. The only way we got Nick was the Joe's butt was already gone....or about to be and had no say in anything.

The hiring of Archer would have never happened under Brodhead. Dean hired Archer, Hallman and Dinardo and wanted to give DiNardo more time in the end but Emeritt wouldn't have any of it.
