LSU Has Had More Success in Draft Than on Field

Miles has had 5 first rounders, and I think 12 total in the draft in his first two years. We've had back to back 11 win seasons with two big bowl wins over top 10 teams, including winning the Sugar Bowl this past year. I'd say his on-the-field accomplishments are pretty much equal to the draft success we've had.

I don't recall Florida having to go on the road against 4 top ten teams...Our schedule may have been similar overall but the truth is that no team this year (OSU or Boise St especially) would have survived and won those 4 games. Our schedule was the only reason we didn't make it in, and even then we were about 5 yards away from getting in despite that.

Nope, they only had to play two on the road, the other two at home.....that's why I said, "Essentially". :thumb:

Oh my gosh, could anyone be more negative about an article that probably required Mandel to wipe his nose off when he was done writing it? This article is great press that asks questions that I've been asking myself since the Barner-gate. Two bizzare and uncharacteristic losses last year both contributed to this, but there's already a thread up about that.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda, and now he's saying that aside from a few questions he thinks us a RUNAWAY FAVORITE for No. 1?

We couldn't buy this kind of love.

WTF are you talking about? You are truely a "bitter" fan of an underachieving, over hyped school. I cant imagine the pain you feel when year in and year out you are hyped by the media and your own fan base only to fall flat on your faces every time you play a good team.

Lets face it, ND has basically made their mark against the Army's and Navy's of the world. At least you can call yourselves the Service Academy Champs.

Swerved It appears my hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Hmm... @ Michigan State he had three 6 win seasons, a 7 win season, and a 9 win season... That may be success for ND but he'd have been run out of town here if he would have posted even two 6 win seasons.

If you check your history, CTT and Auburn have beat LSU fairly regularly in Saban's years here... He wasn't 'Auburn proof' or anything... The Florida game was an extremely bad day. We turned the ball over 5 times to a NC team in the making... We're lucky they didn't hang 50 on us... But bad days happened when Saban was coaching too. If you don't believe me, look at the '00 UAB game.. at HOME.... UAB! [/QUOTE]

Less Miles will be fine here, and unlike Coker, he's not affraid to dismiss idiot players that seem to feel the need to get in trouble with the law... Something Coker couldn't seem to do that cost him dearly IMHO.

As far as the whole "Saban's Recruits" bullsh*t... The last year he was here he went 9-3 with 'his' own recruits... and had a few 4 and 5 loss seasons during his stay too...

I'm not saying he's a lousy coach, because he isn't and that's obvious. But for anyone (that means you too) to sit here and honestly say "If Saban had been the coach...", and think they know how things "woulda" turned out is laughable at best.

I can't uderstand why people here hate Notre Dame so much, what with someone like BitterND doing his best to win over the hearts of the tiger faithfull. He's always so open minded and fair w/ his post!

I can't believe this debate is even out there. As much as I hate to admit it, who else except for USC (sorry, but I had to mention them) has had the same success as LSU over the last 4-5 years.
I believe you have to give credit when it is due, and like it or not, Saban did play a big role in creating what LSU fans are enjoying right now. Not just witht he recruits, but in establishing the atmosphere and attitude with players (and fans) that success should be expected. To his credit, Les Miles has done a great job of continuing that attitude despite the enormous pressure of trying to replace someone as popular as Saban was here.

Yes, it could be argued that LSU would not have lost to Auburn or Florida if Saban were the coach. However, I could also make the argument that Saban may not have pulled out victories against Tennessee, Ole Miss, or Arkansas this past year.

Unfortunately, not all ND fans are like you.

I'm going to pull this from your post just to share this (Found it on another board).

It reminded me how, before the season, many here (Including me) predicted 2 losses and believed we'd be fortunate not to have 3.

good post tiga. i actually remembering reading most experts not even picking LSU to win the west last year b/c of UF/AU/Tenn all on road.

it must be great to say one thing, and then after time passes not be held accountable for it. (glaring  at espn)
