Before the season, many were saying we were too light, not enough LB'ers. This is a Big, Fast and Strong team with a ton of depth. This is really a reloading team.

And our defense is NOT HAPPY about their performance ... Listening to post game interviews now

I pity poor phucks standing in the way of this team on the way to THUNDER DOME

    Statistically #8:

1 Kansas State.......129.0 plays Kent State
    2 UCF ...................130.0 plays FIU
    3 Florida State........137.5 plays Oklahoma
4 Michigan State.....151.0 plays Notre Dame
    5 Alabama..............170.5 plays North Texas
    6 Florida.................174.5 plays Tennessee
7 Virginia Tech........202.5 plays Arkansas State
    8 LSU....................206.3

I suspect we'll probably pass up FSU, Michigan State and Florida after their games this weekend.

Tied for #17 with only 12 points per game. That 12 ppg average would have us in the top 3 at year's end.

Maybe, but none of those teams have had to play 2 of the most powerful offenses in the game. We all know about Oregon's O. State came into the game averaging 550 yards a game and 300 on the ground. Tonight - 190 and 51, respectively, and only 6pts. Based on our competition and the way we've dominated them, we're clearly the best defense in the nation.

I never thought I'd see a defense as good as our '03 team, which was as good as any in the modern history of the game, but this team has a chance to be even better. Still a LONG way to go to be that good, but I like what I've sen so far.

There is definitely something special about this group. Feels like 2003, but tougher. I felt like there were some moments we could have had better coverage, but that's really a ridiculous notion looking at the game as a whole. 190 yard for msu with probably 40 of them coming during late game prevent.

    Incredibly impressive.

MSU came in averaging 585 yards actually.

They had 135 with less than 3 minutes to go. Too bad we didn't run the clock out at the end. They got a cheap 50 yards.

12 ppg would have tied for #1 last year, 3rd in both 2008 and 2009, and #1 alone in 2007

    206.3 ypg would have been #1 pretty easily in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010

there is your perspective that sums it up best

and it's against 2 of the best offenses we'll face all year as multiple people have alluded to

Yep, because as izzy pointed out, they got 50 cheap yards right at the end. Just like Oregon got some cheap yards and a TD right there at the end of the game too.

Oregon had 190 yards with 12 minutes to go in the game

We obviously played a different (non pressuring) defense from that point on to prevent any quick scores (which made sense and was the right thing to do).
