Knowing very little of your team, I won't argue this. But when you say he improved every team he went to by 3 wins the next year is quite a bit misleading. Michigan St. won 5 games the year before Saban won 6 (they subsequently forfeited those games). IMO that is a similar situation to the one he's going into with Bama (record and status wise). Much like Michigan St., Bama has another school in state having much more success, (AU is to Bama what UM was to MSU) plus, not far across state line is another powerhouse enjoying more success (UGA is to Bama what OSU was to MSU).
Georgia doesn't come into play with our success..we only see them a couple of times every what, 4 years? It's not our recruiting territory as well. Auburn, isn't a school we compete with very often on recruits as well. Our schedule, like yours, is favorable. The tough games I see next season are LSU, Auburn, FSU, Georgia and UT...I can see us pulling 2 out of those 5. Don't get me wrong, Vandy isn't a gimme...and the Houston team is going to shock some people this year. They have one hell of a coach in Schiano (sp).
I ain't worried about Bama right now. No offense to them, but the Tigers need to be worried about Mississippi St.
Thanks D, my mistake. It doesn't change the post...he's one hell of a coach. I wouldn't have minded if we had hired him. He's an up and comer. :dis:
If you recall; that was and still is who I think Bama should have hired. All the current hoopla aside, I think he would have been a better long term choice. With the right opportunity he will cause a lot of ADs to ask "What If."
I remember that email, and if you recall, I said I would have been very, very pleased if that is the direction we went. Although, I'm not upset with the hiring of Saban, at all. Someone will snatch him up and never regret it.
this is why football season needs to start. from another thread http://www.tigerforums.com/showthread.php?t=56173 and the story that is linked in that thread reads.... yet the cfn story linked in this thread has bama beating lsu?? in one story lsu goes unbeaten with bama being the toughest game. in another story, bama beats lsu. :cuss: just bring on the freakin season!
If we have a single loss I'd prefer VT...Bama would be too late in the season to recover. Florida would be pushing it if that were the single loss but Bama would push us out of contention all things considered. The thing that scares me about this season is with all the hype everyone will be gunning for us.
