Gumborue you are more that welcome to your opinion. If you going call me out on a prior post, I'm going to back up my case. I stated that this is a very average team. The 17-4 record was deceiving. If LSU finishes the season 9-7 in the SEC, I would say the season was pretty successful. However, do not expect the world if they make the NCAA tournament. One-and-done is a very good posibility.
well, i dont know if i'd say it so strong, but yes we are inconsistent. but that's kinda expected, huh? lotta freshman, and yes i know they contribute to a lot of teams but there are only a few that can be counted on. we need to be able to count on bass
That I can agree with. I'm not sure why this team has so little chemistry, maybe youth but it looks like more than that. I hope they get it together soon, but I am looking more to next season than this one. I hope I am wrong and they bring home the national title but I don't have that warm fuzzy feeling about this team. I still support the team but am just disappointed that so much talent seems to be swimming in jello.:geaux: :lsug:
The answer to all lies somewhere in the middle as usual. Fans overreact to a couple of games and the sky is falling. Brady did not forget how to coach defense suddenly. A couple of games with a lazy team happens in a schedule of a 30+ game season. Is LSU a great team and going to be a #5 seed as some projected? No and a large part of that is Jaime's injury. Can LSU's lack of depth the responsibilty of the coach? Certainly. So where does LSU stand? Still 2nd in the West and in the NCAA trny due to beating Bama twice. No one can argue LSU's weak schedule since the RPI is very good and has been all year. If you argue that the RPI doesn't matter then I guess USC is the true national champs in football based on that argument. Will LSU be successful in the NCAA trny? I'd consider 2 wins a successful season based on the merits of this team. To me it depends on how they play not necessarily the scoreboard. And if history is an indication then Brady's teams playing hard is the rule rather than the exception. One thing is for sure....if Bass doesn't assert himself and become a presence w/o Jaime then LSU will not be competitive.
There's a difference between critiquing and criticizing. Some react to a poor showing by attacking the players, like Bass is lazy or Minor is out of control and Brady needs to chew him out. I prefer to refrain from attacking the kids and trying to figure out why MSU is kicking our butts. I don't like to watch LSU lose any more than you but I'm not going to throw a hissy fit and blame 18 year old kids who are out manned. Learn to accept defeat on occasion. It's part of the game.
wow, we agree on a lot. the 17-4 record was somewhat deceiving with three really tough games to go. and 9-7 sec record is pretty successful, and one and done is likely (or worse). BUT THEY ARE NOT AVERAGE!!! Heck, I said a long time ago that 9-7 was the best we could expect from this team (and I'd be happy with it), but I didn't think we would get it like this. They impressed me during the 5 win stretch, and honestly, after lloreda's injury all bets are off. it just bugs me that so many of you are all gloom and doom. brady needs a couple of years of full scholarships and the young players need at least one year. great things were possible before lloreda went down (they still are if he can come back completely--but even then i'm worried that the chemistry and momentum are too far gone.)
Twisted and Tirk stated it perfectly, without sounding like 5 year olds at Wal Mart who can't get the toy they want. And everyone needs to remember that Bass is just a freshman.
yes! without a decent performance by bass (10-15 pts and 8 rebounds) we will not win one ncaa tournament game
Louisville has lost 5 of their last 6 so its obvious Pitino has lost control of his team and the Cards are probably looking for a quality coach. They have no discipline nor semblence of an offense like most teams and all the good coaches. They need to hire someone to excecute his offense for him and his defensive schemes are overrated. Louisville truly needs one of those quality coaches that most teams have.
