Who knows? It cracks me up a little about the nature of board chatter... We're slamming Alleva for a choice, after getting jilted by a top notch coach. And, we're saying this is his fault. Perhaps as well, we shouldn't be slamming a coach who has yet to coach a game? While I'm not a softball expert by any means, it was clear with the hire Alleva gets a former SEC player of some decoration (Florida great), a former chief recruiter for University of Houston (i.e., will know the surrounding recruiting area), and a coach with head coaching experience who has taken FIU to it's first NCAA tourney win and built a program... and while the record may not appear great, she's improved the team every year and gotten conference COY honors (twice)? FIU Softball's Torina Accepts Head Coaching Job at LSU Yes, it's not an All-Big conference coach, but then I'm not sure that person is going to LSU with the recent events. Don't know if the pick is going to be stellar until a few years from now, but let's at least acknowledge the pick made some sense. Perhaps not as much sex appeal as stealing a rivals coach, but then again, I'm not sure that's what needed here in this case. Be interesting to see what kind of impression she makes on the podium tomorrow. I'll take an energetic, passionate coach that can relate to the team, fans and wants to be here, over someone who is overpaid and indulgent. Feels more like a Nicki Caldwell hire to me.
