Geez....it was third-down ... how can it be a terrible call? Two plays to get a critical conversion .... behind an O-line that outweighs your opponent by an average of 30 pounds?
You can't "make" something if you don't try. LSU chose to punt rather than go for it on fourth. That was point....2 plays to go 1 yard is a gamble that nearly 95% of D-IA coaches will take.
I don't think you understand what I am saying, why run someone who isn't a runner, when you have a workhorse in the backfield. The coaches did a good job, but giving AU the ball right back allowed them to attempt a makeable field goal which would have won the game.
Irons wouldn't have been a backup last night... He wasn't having much luck running it straight up the middle, but once Auburn started doing those sweeps and Irons was able to get on a role, we couldn't stop him. I give him credit for being a hell of a running back, but a lot of it was our fault - sloppy form with arm tackles aren't going to work on a guy like that. We do the same thing against Darby & he'll tear us up as well. I'm sure the coaches took notice & will work on it.
