Me too, this secondary is going to be just as deep if not more than the 2011 secondary. Other than the big play ability of Tyrann Mathieu (which who knows could very well come from Jamal Adams) it could be better. DBU is alive and well in Baton Rouge.
La'el talks about Coach Grimes: "Collins gives part of the credit to Jeff Grimes, who became the Tigers offensive line coach just after Collins made his decision to stay. It could have gone the other way with a new face, but Collins embraced the new ideas Grimes brought and bought into his emphasis on technique and accountability. The two often had long one-on-one conversations coming off the practice field. Grimes challenged Collins to make himself better than he thought he could be. "I learned a lot from coach Grimes, he helped me take my game to the next level," Collins said. "He's a great man, person and coach. He helped me become a better man on and off the field. "He held me accountable, put me in a position to step up and become a man and lead the team. He brought the best out of me. He taught me a lot of things technique wise that helped my game to develop."
So I'm driving talking to Hayden sitting next to me, he is 8. Talking about the NFL and if the Giants will make the playoffs next year. I said well, depends on how they draft and if they get Eli some protection. He says "they should draft Collins cause you know, Eli is a drop back guy not a scrambler" I said "how do you know that" and he says "Dad, have you ever seen Eli run"? I died laughing.
After the Sr Bowl, in the list of Stock Up: OL La’el Collins, LSU: Several questioned whether he’ll be a left tackle in the NFL, but simultaneously called him a strong prospect at guard or right tackle. Balance is sometimes an issue, but Collins is wonderful at recovering. From Dane Brugler of CBS: “Just like his game tape, it didn’t always look pretty for Collins in Mobile, but more often than not, he gets the job done.”
