Saban has to use threats as he doesn't have a respectful, father figure personality. Obviously he was a monumental failure at the professional level as he couldn't threaten his players. He lost them quickly and bailed off a sinking ship which he sabotaged. Miles is more like Sean Payton. Players want to play for him as he treats them with dignity and respect. I wouldn't call him soft by any stretch and I'm sure these players will regret their actions. Regardless of the style of the coach, they're still dealing with kids in the bodies of men. Short of holding their hand, these kids will make stupid mistakes. The difference lies in how the issues are handled. Miles has a record of handling issues well and making them a learning experience. I'm not going to say Saban is solely interested in winning but I also wouldn't list him as the poster child for handling these issues. I recall how he handled one incident by benching a star player and then changed his mind as Bama was getting rocked. No double standards or hypocrisy there. :dis: If they are so afraid of him...why do they continue to have incidents? Anybody want to buy a book? :thumb:
Les looked like he was in control, highly motivated to explain it to the team and ready to make an example out of someone. Miles stood behind jj when the tiger nation wanted his head on a platter. Miles has taken lots of heat for jj. Jj has most probably hurt miles on a personal level with this disrespect he has shown. Miles will take control of this team. You can bet your arse on that. I saw the fire in coach's eyes during that presser and the fear and remorse in the player's eyes. Heads are going to roll.
He makes $3,500,000+ a year. Because he fights for SEC and national titles year in and year out. Because when he uses some bad clock management skills LSU "fans" are ready to tar and feather him. Because he is held to the highest standards with a short leash. That is why he has to protect himself. He would probably not get this kind of chance again. Michigan aint LSU. I don't think he condones it, but he may have looked the other way for one night to let his kids have some well deserved fun. Other posters have said the same thing. Rules are meant to be broken. Girls were not allowed in the dorms, but the side doors were always propped open to let them in. Alcohol is not allowed in Tiger Stadium, but med students tape I.V. bags full of vodka to their legs. 21 is the legal drinking age, but that does not fly. These are supposed to be college students first and athletes second. They should be allowed to act like college students every once in a while. I dont think you need to continue with the personal attacks while hiding behind a computer screen. Doesnt make you look very smart.
This team may end up being the most disciplined team ever at LSU by the time this is over. We can't tell but this may be the best thing for this team. They will certainly be taken down a notch off their high horse. They will either be a disciplined team that works together through adversity and makes the best of this or they will fall apart. I want to believe that they will grow from this and be better than before. They sure as hell will be in good shape and you can bet your arse they are in bed early tonight.
I can tell you this - I was on my normal pre-season homer high looking at LSU win 12 games in a row ! I was pumping JJ and seeing him take 99% of all snaps and have a HUGE year. I am done for now and will wait to hear the guy on the ground say it was JJ that put me in the hospital. Not sure how I will handle all that but I will work through it. My kids have put me through hell and I got through it all. There are a bunch of great Tiger fans on this forum and we are one of the great fan bases for any team in the country. Les is more and he will earn his money this week. Lets see the fire Les and put all this to bed so I can start making fun of the little girl Ducks again. good night all you Tigers
Shut up, Tap! You are the biggest troll on this site. TigerCliff is the most positive poster on this site and my point was maybe if he wasn't so naively positive all the time then he wouldn't overreact like he did on the post I quoted. Instead of always accusing people of having agendas, how about you just make your point that Saban has had players misbehave?
