I may be being a little judgemental here, but this guy kinda looks like he NEEDED his ass whipped. My dad was a marine sniper in Vietnam, a very hard dude. When I told him what happened and showed him this picture he said, "Marine my white ass...no REAL marine is a pussy. But we are known for doing stupid **** in the bar rooms!"...as he took a sip of his screwdriver.
no, i dont. i think the opportunity presented itself. a simple bar fight turns into this? with it being tried in the media? just seems like it to me. and reason for it all meaning trying it in the media, making it seem like a murderous horde, etc. it just never added up to me. a good opportunity to cash in. not implying that it was set up that way. that the fight turned out to be an opportunity for pay out. that is simply my opinion.
I doubt Okie is maintaining that this is a pre-meditated plan by the "victims." However, I do think she is stating that money is their primary reason for pressing charges. Don't be naive, frivolous lawsuits are posted all the time on the basis of money. All it takes is a billboard lawyer saying I'll take you on pro-Bono because this could be profitable. Joker.
It's naive to think you're going to cash in by suing students who don't have a pot to piss in. Lawyers take pro bono work when there is a real opportunity to make money. That doesn't exist here. Since objectivity seems to escape most people, let alone fans who see the world through the colors of their team, let me throw out a possibility. Maybe the victims were just trying to get out of the parking lot and a group of meathead football players didn't like that they were asked to move. Maybe some football players who are used to getting their way because of their position at LSU and their physical size just beat the ever living shhit out of some guys. If that was my son or relative and the story is like that, then you're damn right I'm going to press charges. Should people just go on about their business if they were victims of an attack? Baton Rouge is devolving into enough of a crime-ridden violent craphole, now we have to tolerate it from LSU football players too? The point is that none of us knows what happens and that's what the system, criminal and civil is for. Okie, you're all over Alleva for jumping to conclusions when he was at Duke yet you're doing the same thing to the victims here in this case when you don't know jack-shhit. What if that was your son?
The fight just happened; the lawyers raced the victims to the hospital. They are not after the players; they want the rich athletic department.
Yeah - BUT - can they implicate the Athletic Dept? It wasn't a "team function" sponsored by the University. The players "broke curfew" after having been checked in. Doesn't that throw it to the players personally rather than LSU or the Athletic Dept? I don't know - I'm hoping someone who knows more than I do can answer this question.
The athletic dept has nothing to do with it. It was off campus, having nothing to do with the university.
