They may indeed think their mission is to find more inventive ways to curse in unison, but the band no longer playing will not happen. TAF members will not allow this to take place. Eventually the school will bring more specific punishments upon the student body.

As TheDude said, look hard at your various frats for examples. Things have changed drastically since I was a student in the late 80s/early 90s. Heck, things changed drastically while I was a student at LSU. Some fraternities (and sororities, I might add) pushed things a little to far, and the university cracked down hard. They can -- and very possibly will -- punish all the students for the actions of a few.

I think there are more positive ways to deal with the situation than some of the draconian measures being thrown out as possibilities. But no one should doubt that the university administration might not take this course. For one, the administration isn't known for its light touch. And if the people that count (i.e., alumni who donate serious money to the university) weigh in against the students, guess who wins.

Actually, the band will be there loooooooooooooooooong after student tickets are severely restricted, given to upper-classmen only, or done away with all together.

People still sing Tiger Rag without the band. I can promise you that the Wizard of Oz march will still take place at the UF game as a protest, without the band.

I can't wait to hear what's going to go along with it. Sigh.

Now here is an almost perfect idea. Restrict the tickets to Juniors and Seniors only at least for the next 3-4 home games. That should get their attention. I hate to label and entire group but I would guess that most of the idiocy is coming from the freshman who think it's "cool" to make dick jokes and scream the F word.

i am all about a reward system. I know such a thing would never exist because administration prefers to be more hardline and better-do-as-your-told 'ish than I would ever want to be.

But why not student ticket prices go up $3 each time there is a vulgar chant. Then each complete game with no vulgarity they go down $3. I know when I was a student ticket prices were an issue for me even as low as they were. If somebody was jeopardizing my ability to buy tickets by cussing I would have been quick to have a confrontation with them.

I know when I was a student I probably went along with the vulgar cheers because I was drunk and didn't really care. If I had an incentive to care then I would have not participated.

Word from some band members is that they are working on an LSU version of Crank Dat Soulja Boy called Crank Dat Golden Girl which will replace this song in the Florida game. That should be great!

No one can hear it. It's not even close to being audible from the field, let alone the other side of the stadium.
