I have no idea what a mono run style offense is. Just because LSU can pound it out on the ground doesn't mean we don't pass the ball. LSU has always run a balanced offense.

LSU scored 30 points a game last year. That should be quite enough. We have a stifling defense and an offense that plays ball control. Oregon can't score when it can't get the ball back.

You know what's gonna be the key difference between LSU and the other two teams you mentioned in your thread? The offensive line! This is an experienced offensive line that has 4 returning starters from last season! This is a strong offensive line that teared up Texas A&M's run defense in last season's bowl game, who statistically only allowed an average of 180 rushing yards per game, with almost 300 yards! You'll see how LSU runs over Oregon even if they end up losing the game because of other reasons.

Not to be a downer, but there's actually 3 returning starters, since Josh D is out for a while. Then there's one guy who was recently in a walking boot (Williford), although Miles says he'll be ready. Then there's Blackwell, who has been 'knicked' according to Miles.

I feel OK about the OL, but not as positive as I did a couple weeks ago.

This is the first game of the season for both these teams. I think winning this will come down to who is the more better prepared team. Who makes the least mistakes and who executes their gameplan the best.
I am preparing myself for the usual LSU first game aggravations which I hope we overcome like with Washington and North Carolina.

That said I think this will be a close game that we win in OT.

Don't forget about Collins, the 5 star OL recruit from LA, who is expected to start immediately according to CLM given Dworaczyk's injury. I know the future doesn't seem to be as promising as it's supposed to be, but right now all we need is just a little faith in these kids.

How good are the Duck cornerbacks? I wouldn't put them on an island.

It should be a great game. Both teams are class acts.

Miles seemed to indicate yesterday that Collins will play but not start. It's not easy to start the first game of the season as a true freshman on the OL. Especially against top notch level competition.

So is Williford out? I haven't heard about him except that he was in a walking boot not too long ago.
