Since the Advocate, hometown newspaper of the LSU Tigers has been greedier than Williams by putting an annoying popup blocking us from reading anything unless we pay the $10 a month I am starting this thread. If you see anything interesting just post the gist of it here so people can use their app to read it. App is still free for now. I'll go first: A Tampa Bay newspaper columnist has been critical of the Buc's selection of Devin White. He called it the "safe pick" and compared it to getting the bass player rather than the lead guitarist.
Tamp newspaper columnist... just sub "Tampa newspaper" in for the "Saturday Evening Post" and "battle" for "football" in the Patton movie quote below. The bilious bastards who wrote that stuff about individuality for the Saturday Evening Post don't know anything more about real battle than they do about fornicating.
It's not just where you are. Lots of "local" papers have been purchased by larger conglomerates and they've all done the same thing. My local paper, the OC Register used to be free online but now requires payment or free through the app. Cracks me up though, the pop-up always says I've used my 30-day article limit but I haven't read an article in over 5 months.
The Advocate is liberal horse puckey. It’s the last place you’ll see anything informative about LSU. They’ve been in the tank for years.
living in Kentucky I’ve enjoyed keeping up in touch by reading the advocate and enjoyed it but not at 9.99 a month
The problem with these papers charging fees is that despite paying you are still inundated with advertisements...
