No way. Burning a flag is just about the most respectful thing you can do. It shows that you appreciate the freedoms we have in this country. It shows that you value the actual principles of liberty and that you don't care about pomp and circumstance.

You don't see how great it is that as a nation we value our freedoms more than our symbols? We live in a place that values liberty so much that we place the principles of freedom above everything including our own national treasures. That is awesome. When someone burns a flag they are doing one of the most patriotic things that can be done. If they are smart enough to understand that is another matter. If you don't lke flag burning move to China. They don't allow it there.

Exactly. Which is why the media should ignore them and largely does.

Not at all. Putting up with crap like this is part of the price we all pay for the freedom we enjoy in this country.

The reason they're idiots is because they don't understand that the kid is not being prosecuted for burning a flag, but is being prosecuted for trespassing, theft, and vandalism. Nothing legally wrong with burning a flag and there shouldn't be, but you can't trespass onto property to steal someone's flag and burn it. Now you're in the slammer.

I don't understand why LSU is allowing this BS. It's great that he has the right to do it, but LSU has the same right to say that they don't want that BS done here.

And yes I know if I don't pay any attention to it that it will go away.

No, while it may show you value liberty, it also spits on the nation that guarantees you that very liberty.

But that is allowed. Otherwise, that liberty would cease to exist. It shows that we're better than say, Muslim extremists, who go on killing sprees every time someone defaces their stupid holy book.

Is it silly? Absolutely. There are far more effective ways to protest your country. Burning a flag is nothing more than a spectacle, and does very little to serve whatever larger purpose this person thinks they have.
