i believe a wise woman already said "national archives".

and since threads are all over the place...

i was at the national archives doing research several years ago. if you find info on microfilm, they have a special room you can go to for viewing originals on request. secure, couldnt take much in there except a paper and a pen for making notes. i was able to request and see the original documents for my great great grandfather's claim in one of oklahoma land runs. to me, it was quite awe inspiring to see a piece of my family history on paper like that.

and to somewhat keep from totally derailing, seeing the original of the constitution was very moving for me. it really made me think about what all our country has gone through in the past two hundred something years.

now back to your regularly scheduled flag burning.

Yep.. visited the archives when I was a kid long ago. Even back then I was kind of amazed with it all.

Good catch. I was wrong about the date, I confused it with the date that the part of Spanish West Florida not included in the WFR was annexed. I should have looked it up.

But you had said that the WFR became part of Louisiana which then became a state making Texas the only republic directly annexed into the United States. But the WFR was directly annexed into the United States in 1810. Louisiana (and the WFR) just did not achieve statehood until 1812, Louisiana had already been annexed in 1803.

You are being delusional again. You lump everything that you imagine that you dislike into one type of person who you hate.

You dismiss the Constitution like it didn't exist. I can't imagine anything more un-American. Why do you hate America? People like you would burn the American flag would call soilders returning home babykillers. You would march in the streets chanting Marxist slogans. You would go on tirades denouncing our free enterprise system while screaming about worker's rights. You wouldn't stand for the national anthem or put their hand over their heart for the pledge. Hell , you wouldn't say the pledge to begin with. You'd rather put an entire industry out of business to save a frog. You're all the same.

    See how that BS works?

It's all very simple. Americans have a Constitutional right to express themselves even if it offends people. There is no Constitutional right protecting us from being offended.

Shane fought enemies overseas to guarantee and respect the Constitution. YOU have a responsibility to do the same. If you have to accept that some jerk may burn a flag, then it is part of your duty as an American to put up with it to guarantee and respect the Constitution. It's a damn small sacrifice compared to that made by some.

You don't have to like it, I surely don't. But calling people un-American just because they pissed you off is just wrong.

Then you too are akin to a middle eastern dictator. I know you don't go around murdering people, but if you would 'drop them where they stand' with a 'fist to the nose and a steel toed boot the the chest' simply for exercising their rights, then you dishonor those that fought for those freedoms even more so then the flag burners.

I didn't say they didn't have the right. I think the person that would burn the flag wouldn't be the kind of person who would stand and say the pledge either
