i am always running races, in fact i am about to run a race on wall st tonight, and before the races they always have a national anthem, and some people have hats, and they dont take them off, and people yell at them to take them off. and i always want to break the jaws of these idiots telling other to take of their hats. mind your own, peeps.

remember the thread about clothes? and i made rules like no short when out to eat dinner? i dont go around telling people how to act, it is just a guideline that you might adhere to. you are allowed, encouraged even, to think for yourself. these rules are just suggestions for people who want advice. you dont have to do anything other than exactly what you want. thats what america is all about.

and i agree you should be quiet during the anthem, to be polite. i think all that ever really expected is to leave others alone. burn whatever you want. wear your hat, pray all you want. repeat all the pledges you want. just leave each other alone. it isnt a sign of disrespect if i dont place my hand on my heart or whatver, it just means i dont think of respect in terms of this weird symbolism.

so this moron who want to do whatever on the parade grounds, let him be. dont hit with water balloons or scream and intimidate him such that he needs cop protection. this is wrong.

Actually my link was from the U.S. Code...little more than rules that are just suggested for people who want advise.

yeah i really fear the ramifications of violating the sacred code.

if i were punished for violating that code, it would go to court and eventually that code would be thrown out as thoroughly unconstitutional. thats why it is just nonsense suggestions that you dont have to pay attention to.

Water balloons are too much...violent threats are too much...but if you are holding a protest I reserve the right to counter protest.

or to repeat what i just said:

The United States Flag Code establishes advisory rules for display and care of the [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_United_States"]flag of the United States[/ame]. It is Chapter 1 of [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Title_4_of_the_United_States_Code"]Title 4 of the United States Code[/ame] ([ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Title_4_of_the_United_States_Code"]4 U.S.C.[/ame] § 1 et seq). This is a U.S. federal law, but there is no penalty for failure to comply with it and it is not widely enforced — indeed, the [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supreme_Court_of_the_United_States"]U.S. Supreme Court[/ame] has ruled that punitive enforcement would conflict with the [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution"]First Amendment[/ame] right to [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_speech"]freedom of speech[/ame].

so you say it isnt for people who want advice. but that is quite literally exactly what it is. "advisory"

Didn't say you should...I don't think there is even a punishment. It is just a standard.

    I was just typing that....

Meh...like I was typing before you posted such a quick response...I see it as a standard to be meet, you are free to do what you want.

if only the gang of cajun hillbillies at the parade grounds saw it our way LSU wouldnt be an embarrassment. and unfortunately i get the impression that many of you are weirdos into creepy nationalist symbolism and the flag as well.

Man, take an aspirin or something. You get way too worked up worrying about minding other peoples business. One man's creepy ritual is another man's sincere expression of respect.

I don't feel a need to beseech a deity to bless my food before I eat it. But neither do I feel a need to lecture those that do. I don't feel compelled to tell them that they are creepy freaks and that chanting incantations is bad for the digestion.
