Well the “advise” that was given in the U.S. Code was passed by Congress and approved by a President before being recorded with the national archive...but other than that that are EXACTLY the same and are or equal importance.

exactly my point. we shouldnt be telling each other how to manage the flag or when to put our hands over our hearts and take off our hats. i never tell anyone anything. i let em be. outside of a venue like this, i would never say a word. and not because i am a pussy either, i could beat 98% of you senseless in 10 seconds if necessary.

you and i we are agreeing. live and let live.

wanna burn a flag on the parade grounds? enjoy yourself, ugly jew guy. i will be at the union eating tacos and sleeping.

fair point, my advice is more relevant, not having to be passed by an incompetent congress or be approved by an idiot president

Noticed the following in one of the links provided. So, prior to 1989, it was illegal to burn or disrespect the flag? Even though each state has their own flag laws, sounds like they are limited to how they can enforce. I had also forgotten that there were other verses to the national anthem.

This code is the guide for all handling and display of the Stars and Stripes. It does not impose penalties for misuse of the United States Flag. That is left to the states and to the federal government for the District of Columbia. Each state has its own flag law.

Criminal penalties for certain acts of desecration to the flag were contained in Title 18 of the United States Code prior to 1989. The Supreme Court decision in Texas v. Johnson; June 21, 1989, held the statute unconstitutional. This statute was amended when the Flag Protection Act of 1989 (Oct. 28, 1989) imposed a fine and/or up to I year in prison for knowingly mutilating, defacing, physically defiling, maintaining on the floor or trampling upon any flag of the United States. The Flag Protection Act of 1989 was struck down by the Supreme Court decision, United States vs. Eichman, decided on June 11, 1990.

Question: Take the flag out of the crime and I wonder if Mr Haas would have even bothered protesting Eslava's arrest?

Question: I wonder if those students who "infinged" on Mr Haas' free speech rights in the name of patriotism are also the same ones who hide behind the freedom of speech argument by yelling "suck that tiger dick" at LSU football games?
