I agree with you. He has a right to do so and he is exercising that right. No one is saying he does not. It is this sentence that I (and I think the others) have contention with….

Really? So the funeral protestors are being “respectful” to the dead soldiers when they are protesting? How about when white supremacist march on MLK day? No, their acts are not “the most respectful thing” they can do. They are exercising their right to assemble and their freedom of speech. Their acts are not one of “respect” in anyway. In my opinion they are abusing their rights, but they have them to abuse so….

i am curious as to what part of the flag manufacturing process the magical freedoms are inserted such that they can be burned.

or perhaps its SYMBOLIC and simply a statement exactly no more offensive than saying "i am not happy with some aspect of the US".

why i it relevant that the person be aware of the repercussions? they didnt cause the repercussions. people being lunatic caused the repercussions. the repercussions are not their concern.

Right after they stitch the last star, they sprinkle a little pixie dust and swish a wand made of willow over the top of it will chanting the declaration.

On the other hand...perhaps you're right...it is probably just symbolic. Just like a purple and gold stars and bars is nothing more than a symbol. One that says to some “I love LSU and the south”, and to others it is a sign that the person flying the flag is a raciest and those that are in view of it become offended. For what it is worth, I just assume that the person flying it is a red neck and means no harm, but that is just me.

In my opinion burning the flag is very insulting. Just as I’m sure others on here finds it insulting for someone to fly the confederate flag. In any event, I’m still under the opinion that to burn a flag in protest shows an extreme disrespect for what that flag symbolizes, but again that is just me.
