No disrespect but the insert of "talent alone" is misquoting and misrepresenting what I'm saying. I've never said "talent alone". I said that you cannot put the same weight factor on "luck" as you can on "talent" when it comes to the formula of winning a MNC. But "luck" does have it's place. Just doesn't carry the same weight as talent. Secondly, I'm not trying to "find something to dis Les" about. I don't have a dawg in this fight (no offense to Michael Vick ). I'm an ALABAMA fan not a Nick Saban fan. It just so happens Tricky Nicky is the Head Coach of Alabama. If Tricky wasn't the coach of Bama I'd say the EXACT same thing about Les. I said the EXACT same thing about Mack Brown before he won a MNC at Texas. I stand by opinion in that I believe with the talent LSU had last season they should have been playing in the SECCG AND playing in the MNC Game. Dont' see how that is "really reaching" to take a "shot" at Les Miles. LSU still had a successful season. They just didn't do the best they could have considering the talent on the team. Just an opinion. I've been watching football for a long time and actually played the game. There's been A LOT of teams just like LSU that have had the talent to win it all but didn't. Popular belief is you better strike while the iron is hot because you're not guaranteed the same opportunity next season. Why me saying this about LSU seems so out there and absurd is beyond me. Especially when you hear this phrase all the time with regards to teams that have loads of talent and the "Big One" keeps alluding them. I'll be glad when all the emotions die down from this entire fiasco. Bama fans and LSU fans a like can't have a legitimate conversation about FOOTBALL without thinking one is somehow taking a "shot" at the other one's coach. I have no reason and or care to take a shot at Miles. I'm actually one of the few on Tidefans that take up for the dude as a pretty dang good coach. :thumb:
Come on, Buzzard. You're suggesting that LSU had the talent, but not the coaching to win it all last year. Well, we've heard it just a few too many times. You haven't even mentioned LSU's rugged schedule last year with Florida, Auburn, Tennessee and Arkansas all on the road. Could that have had something to do with it? Or the homer referee job we got at Auburn that may have cost LSU that title game. True enough. We are just getting a leeeeeetle tired of hearing how LSU underperformed last year or how LSU is lucky that Les is winning with Nick's players, or "should have won" the title when we know we had a great season that Bama would have killed for. I know you guys are tired of hearing about Nick's lies and ethnic slurs and his happy feet, so I don't go to Tidefans with that krap. We'd appreciate the same consideration. You can make comments like that here without being deleted, but it's still a sensitive subject and we're really, really sick of it. I didn't mean to bash you, but like you say, Les is our coach and he will be defended here.
I love debating Red...but these last two posts of his are absolutely undebatable...even from me! Great posts, Red.:thumb:
No I'm not "suggesting" that nor did I say that. You're wanting me to say that and that's why it seems to you that I'm "suggesting" it. Like you've already made your mind up that whatever I say is a "shot" at CLM and so you take your predetermined conclusion and cherry pick over my quotes ever so slightly changing what I said to fit your predetermined notions. It's hard to have a debate when you're debating on altered material. This is the second time you've taken something I said and added to it in order to make it sound like I've said something I haven't. But hey, like we say at Tidefans. "This is a Bama board if you don't like it you don't have drop in". This is a LSU board so.... Enjoyed it. Best of luck to LSU except on November 3rd. No hard feelings you're still good people. :thumb:
Red is one of the better posters on Bama forums. I don't see what you are saying about him at all...but, that's just me.
if youre not dissing clm, then what/whom? If LSU "should" have done better, then why? not talent and not coaching, then what?--refs, bcs, weather, boll weevil. since you claim to want to talk football, then do it. was jimbo too conservative against auburn last year? peveto's return game plan sucked? should clm have insisted on playing kw earlier instead of jv?
