This is my favorite quote from the whiney vols:

ESPN dictates time - is that a contractual obligation? Is the school obligated to have the game on ESPN. Vols chose not to play on ESPN for the UAB game. Sounds like scapegoating to me.

Yeah, like LSU is gonna give up a nationally televised game to meet their pathetic demands. That orange kool aid must be strong stuff! :hihi:

Damn! You all aren't kidding about the whining.

(Nice to see Red representin' us over there, too..and doing it well.)

F*ck, man, I'll drive in and sleep in my truck if that's what it takes to get 85,000 or so LSU fans in TS for that game. Those Vol fans are a delusional bunch, that's fo' sho'!

I didn't hate Tennessee before, but I sure as hell do now. :angryfire Two weeks until it's time to kick Phat Phil's ass.

    I can't wait.

Everyone going to the game should show up wearing a stocking cap and teddy bear just to let the Vol fans know they will be going "nighty-night" as soon as the game's over. :hihi:

That should be our theme. The student union should sell stocking caps and night slippers. :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :crystal: :crystal: :crystal: :crystal: :crystal: :crystal: :crystal: :crystal: :crystal: :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige

    Red is giving them hell.

"Are you seriously suggesting that the SEC cancel its arrangement with ESPN and give up a nationally televised matchup between Top-10 teams (assuming UT beats Florida)? How many fans would that inconvenience?"

'And you are wrong. The SEC has a contract with ESPN and Skip Bertman cannnot change it. LSU is often forced to give up night games for TV against our tradition and our wishes in order to accomodate the SEC contract. Tennessee signed it, too."

You and I have very different opinions on what constitutes low class, chief"

Maybe they would be happy if the VOLS got to play without instant replay?

Restoring a Tennessee tradition of relying on cheap calls from the refs. :hihi:

It's actually better for the Vols to have the game in Baton Rouge. It's a much shorter drive for the looters/Vols players still in NOLA.

Here's an excerpt from an article in todays Advocate that describes how CBS & ESPN determine which network selects SEC games to broadcast:

Each January, ESPN and CBS, the two major network television partners of the SEC, choose what they consider to be the top 10 games in the SEC for the upcoming season, SEC and network officials said. In a type of "draft," the network making the selection chooses the first right of refusal.

SEC Associate Commissioner Charles Bloom said CBS gets the first two picks, then the fourth and fifth, the seventh and eighth, and the 10th. ESPN gets the third, sixth and ninth selections, Bloom said, and chose the Tennessee-LSU game with one of its picks.

The networks usually finalize their coverage plans two Mondays before a game, as ESPN did Monday. Bloom said the networks have a limited number of opportunities to wait until six days before a game.
