just maybe the head coach hasn't figured out how to coach this kid up. when you're a PG, you can't go 150 mph all the time. if tack would slow down and let the game come to him, maybe the light bulb would go off. so, is it coaching or is the kid just uncoachable? last time I posed this question, you gave me a sarcastic comment, this time I'm asking for an honest opinion.
I would guess that Brady has tried. Tack is clearly out of control and cannot be made to get under control, so I'd say he's uncoachable. He's not unbenchable though. If Brady had a suitable replacement, Tack would get a lot fewer minutes.
Here's the BIG catch.... John Brady KNEW that Minor was OUT OF CONTROL when the kid was in high school. He could have recruited the OP Walker kid (McCalebb) who scored 35 on us for UNO earlier this year and is top 10 nationally in scoring. McCalebb also led Class 5A in scoring his senior year. Plus, he is a super kid who listens and is a good student. BUT, Brady opted for a known problem child from outside the state (albeit, Houston). This mistake is just one of many that explains why Brady's teams are usually decent yet can't quite get over the hump to great.
Hindsight may be 20/20 but it always seems to geaux back to recruiting issues with this coach doesn't it? You don't go recruit this kid, you recruit this other one instead. This one isn't ready for the SEC and the other one quits the team because they have poor character. I'm not saying everyone that quits a team or transfers has poor character but most that quit do.
Where was hindsight when Brady was at a game in which Tack threw the ball at a referee? You telling me that Brady thought he could coach that? This kid was SO bad in high school that the Houston Chronicle-at his coach's request-would not post his ppg stats and other information, even though he led the area high school players in the 4th largest city in America. The reason the Chronicle wouldn't do it is because he threw it in EVERYONE's face and was really proud about it...They were trying to teach him humility...A Parade All-American whose hometown paper can't stand him enough to publish his area-leading stats... Wow...Hindsight sure is 20/20, ain't it, SabanFan? Your support of Brady, even your deflecting of the criticism sure does have you looking dumb most of the time...
How in the hell do you come out and lay an egg at this point in the season? They had to know Bama lost earlier in the day and we come out with no emotion and no hustle with 1st place in the West on the line? Inexcuseable! It's time to bench Minor and start Whipple. Or possibly move Mitchell to the point (not sure he can handle it), Hudson to the 2 and Neltner to the 3. Minor is a real liablilty these days. And it's time for Bass to get in someone's face and tell them to get him the GD ball. There is no excuse for not getting him more touches during the game. Bass has to pop out 20 feet from the basket to touch the ball ... what the hell is that? That was a winnable road game last night. They have to win 5 of 8 to have any chance at an NCAA bid, unless they win the SEC tourney. I hope last night wasn't the beginning of the end for us.
In your jaded view TE. You are so enamored with yourself that you cannot imagine anyone not seeing things as you see them.
OK you Brady-bashers, NOW would be the appropriate time to "bash" him, and not after a win. It seems to me that situations/issues such as this one (whether Brady should stay or go) usually wind up polarizing the two sides into extreme ridiculous positions. So the one side says Brady is a moron, a "festering sore" as one poster put it, while the other side courageously defends their man while seeming to ignore some obvious problems. The truth is somewhere in between. I have no reason to believe that Brady is not a decent fellow and doing his best. Therefore I don't understand the venom. On the other hand, the two big problems -- fan attendance and player departures -- need to be evaluated by Skip Bertman. And those issues will remain, whether the Tigers earn a NCAA bid and "win a few games in the tournament," apparently some sort of benchmark for Brady to retain his job. Skip needs to try to figure out why the fans aren't showing up, and why the team has no bench and why players seem to keep periodically quitting the program. If he thinks someone can come in and do better, it might be time, at the END of the season, and certainly not now, to pull the trigger on a change. In the meantime, keep supporting the team, lay off the venom, b/c it's unwarranted, and give him a chance. The results of this season may not be enough to justify keeping Brady, but it's only fair to give him the chance.
