Gotta agree with you here. We missed the first shot on two crucial 1-in-1s. Right there was a possible 4 points down the drain.
I am fairly certain there was also another 1 and 1 missed at about the 6 or 7 minute mark. Not to mention Fowles missed both foul shots on a shooting foul.
Well she is basing it on the needs of the LA Sparks. They already have a great center, they need a playmaker to go along with her. Otherwise I think Fowles would be #1. Not many come along like her.
Its just me I guess but I like a coach to be kinda like Butch. Show some emotion, pace the sidelines, work the refs, get the team excited. We never showed any urgency during this game. I don't like getting beat by Tenn. I agree- those announcers drove me crazy.. I wanted to win so so so bad.. Darn!!! Same song same result.. different coach... which was said earlier I think...
If LSU doesn't make the final 4, this season has been a failure and Van has not done a good enough job with the talent he has to work with. Make the final 4 and lose, and I guess it's debatable. Make it past the final 4 semi-final and then I would deem it a clear success.
I just have a coaching question on this girls BB team. When we are playing teams that are bigger & stronger than us - Conn, Rutgers, Tenn. why don't we move the second string center (williams) who is 6-3 into one of the forward slots & give SF's some help down low? This girl has sit the bench for four years & everytime I see her she plays pretty good. They did that against Kentucky for a spell but she never played against Tenn did she?? I'm not a coach & Van knows best I guess but darn we were one dimensional tonight.
As I mentioned a week or so ago, I was hoping LSU would be a top #2 seed for the tourney. I think LSU will end up in N.O. for the sweet 16 and elite 8 after hosting the 1st 2 rounds. Home court advantage all the way to the final 4 is better than a low end #1 seed had we have won, IMO. Plus, a loss can motivate this team again to make a big run and go undeafeated from here on in. :geaux:
Chill out, Chicken Little. Being the 2 seed in New Orleans is way, way better than being the 1 seed in Spokane where LSU would have had maybe 20 fans in attendance. You know how many teams would beat Tennessee on their turf twice in one year? NONE.
that's fair... and I think the team knows that. But even if they get upset in the Sweet 16 or the Elite 8, etc... Van isn't any more or less of a Hall of Fame coach. When you're in a single-elimination tournament, "stuff happens." I think they'll get there, though...
