LSU Vision Plan=Better Non Conference Football Opponents

Discussion in 'The Tiger's Den' started by DeathValley, Aug 13, 2003.

  1. Looked back at the schedules from the 1990's through last year.

When the SEC expanded in 1992, the teams went from playing 6 conference games to 7 conference games. The only big time schools we played since that (until VT last year) was A&M and ND - probalby b/c the contracts were already in place. After the 1 trip to ND and the end of the A&M series, LSU has played 7 home games per season.

Two factors - additional conference game resulted in less scheduling flexibilty and Hub's point above regarding the focus on generating revenue to fund all sports. Those 2 factors are not going away anytime soon.

We should not have more than one home and home series with another BCS conference opponent at a time. The SEC is brutal enough and you want to start adding Oklahoma and Notre Dame to the schedule in the same year??? Yikes.

You don't think we raised ticket prices by $7.5 million annually just to be able to give $1.1 million away every other year do you?
