Florida has this walk-on freshman named Emmitt Smith. On now Cox Sports. Anyone around long enough to remember this game? I was there.

I don't think he was a walk-on. As I recall, he was one of the most highly
recruited running backs in the nation, coming out of Escambia High. He ran for over 8,000 yards in his high school career, at Florida's highest classification.

I was there. But at the time I didn't realize who he was or who he could become. I was a student and they were just all Florida #$%&#s to me!

    do you remember

the 1989 game UF and AU? Emmitt couldnt walk of the field after the loss and was crying as he totally broke down...just a regular season game.

I guess thats what hall of famers are made of....desire that cant be taught. I wasnt his biggest fan and he wasnt the greatest runner but his heart and will to win was second to none.

also i do not think Emmitt was a walkon. he was highly recruited out of that infamous high school as said above.
