you are really struggling to criticize brady if all you can come up with is some post game news conference allegation that hurt somebody's feelings years ago.
actually i was thinking the same thing. that's pretty weak at best to argue about davis. really weak.
Tubesock Jones and the crew must be living it up tonight. I'll give Tulane respect when they finally win a game in Omaha.....
Ok, then...Jaime Lloreda's recruitment...Wins over integrity...displayed on the court over and over again, and the scapegoat for a recruiting gamble that paid off somewhat but flamed out in the end... JueMichael Young's reinstatement to the team after being arrested for beating his girlfriend up in a dorm... Duane Spencer's recruitment and offer of a scholarship... Regis Koundjia (I'm sure martin remembers that one ;-)... Tony Gipson Tim Bush Garrett Temple Tyrus Thomas etc...
At this point in the season (11-4) with a loss to Tulane. Who cares about midweek, and non-con games? They mean absolutely nothing and Skip lost some when he was coaching to 5 NC. Smoke is having trouble hammering out a batting order (12 hits & 2 runs just aint getting it). Pitching to this point has been great. C - Liuzza - still struggling at the plate, think he should have been pulled in the sixth to give Weaver a shot at drivng the ball. 1B - W. Harris - still slumping, still not hitting w/ RISP. Think Mayer should get a start or two this weekend see if it sparks something. SS - Hebert - needs to ride the pine, he is worthless and is 0 fer every game. I would move Hollander here, although he played well at 3rd tonight. 3B - Hollander - played well at the plate tonight, but I didnt like him as lead off Sprowl, even injured, went 3 for 4 (only out was w/ RISP doh), but like I said we need him at SS. 3B - Padron - still young but I believe he will come around with more AB, have heard rumors that B. Harris will take over weekends during confer. but I hope not. CF - Sprowl - out for 3 to 5 weeks having surgery on his broken pinky, he will be sorely missed as the lead off hitter, but I think Gill or Hollander will bat there till he comes back. Bhuteau will take duties in CF (maybe Stewart) its a toss up. Gill, Patterson, Stavi, Clay, Sprowl, Hollander - are all playing good ball I noticed something this evening that got me thinking. Tulane play so well in tight spots, ala pinch hitting when it counts, pulling pitchers and getting out of jams, bunting RISP. Seems like Smoke is still grasping at Geauxrilla Ball and getting away from fundamentals.
actually losing midweek games cost us a SR a couple years back when we lost to toolame @ their dump. the new format puts weight on these games now and they add up if you lose too many. Skip had the luxury of undermanned teams everywhere once he established us and could juggle his rotation however he felt at any time. Also, LSU has never had a solid fundamental team since Ive been attending minus a squad here or there. Its always been pitching and heavy hitting minus the swanke era. Of course the bats have changed so LSU is much more fundamental now in comparison as a necessity yet still not a small-ball team nor ever will be as long as skip is here. LSU fans didn't like the small ball attempt but namely skip bertman didnt like it. People always take one side or the other and try to make an argument but the bottom line is, smoke and the staff teach fundamentals daily and its up to the team to execute. We failed to get a hit with runners on early and it cost us the game. Too many early missed opportunities while Green Scum executed when they were in position. nothing more, nothing less. stavinoha's ball gets by, the bases clear, LSU likely wins and this conversation is moot and we're all pounding our collective LSU chests while thumbing our noses at the weenies. this will happen though. when it really counts. And I'll be sure to remind them.
Great post. I wanted Smoke to bunt runners over several times (i don't remember the exact situation, but I do remember that there were runners on 1st and 2nd with NO outs and there was no bunt), anyway...He's obviously still playing gorilla ball, waiting for the 3 run shot. In games vs top teams, you simply cannot do that. Tulane had their #3 hitter trying to bunt...trying, because he didn't get it down, but at least they tried. Bunting isn't hard to do. it can be practiced indoors. How many first pitch fastball strikes did we take tonight? I absolutely hate the "take" sign, unless it's 3-0. And even then, I would tell the hitter to look for a certain pitch that they like and if it's where you like it, smash it! Tulane played a near perfect game. I do think they were going all out to win it. We'll see if they can continue to play this way. I would love to beat them and USL in Omaha!
